How Dream Yard works
Dream Yard turns one photo of your yard into a free AI redesign concept in three steps: you send a photo, we design against your actual growing conditions, and you get a concept with a real cost range.
What are the three steps?
- 1
Send one wide photo
Stand at the far edge of your yard and get the whole space in one frame, including the fence line, in daylight. One good wide shot beats five close-ups because our design process needs to see the whole footprint, not a slice of it.
- 2
We design against your real conditions
Your address maps to a climate zone, soil type, and sun exposure. Plant choices are filtered against that data before anything gets suggested, so the render reflects a yard that can actually survive where you live.
- 3
You get a concept, a plant list, and a cost range
The concept includes named plants, not generic greenery, plus a materials cost range split into a DIY estimate and a hire-it-out estimate. Both are estimates for planning, not quotes.
Why trust the plant choices for an Austin yard?
Most of Central Texas sits in USDA zone 8b, with alkaline clay soil that drains slowly and summers that regularly clear 100°F with weeks of no rain. A plant that thrives in a nursery catalog photographed in Oregon can die in an Austin yard by August. Dream Yard filters against zone, soil type, and sun exposure specifically, and favors Texas natives and proven drought-tolerant species over generically popular plants.
See the actual plant list with sun and water needs on the Austin plants that survive summer page.
What a concept does and does not include
A Dream Yard concept includes a redesigned render of your space, a named plant list suited to your location, and an estimated cost range for materials. It does not include a construction drawing, a contractor bid, a permit review, or a property valuation. Treat it as the starting point for a conversation with a landscaper or nursery, not a document you hand to a bank or a city inspector.
Questions
How long does a Dream Yard concept take?
Most concepts are ready within a few minutes of you submitting your photo and answering a few questions about the space. You will get an email when it is ready.
Does the concept include a real quote or bid?
No. A Dream Yard concept is an illustrative design idea with an estimated cost range, not a construction document, a contractor bid, or a property valuation. Get a firm quote from a licensed contractor before committing to any work.
Who picks the plants?
Plant choices come from a database of species matched against your specific location's climate zone, soil type, and sun exposure, then reviewed for real survivability in that setting, not just visual appeal in a render.
Is Dream Yard available as an app yet?
The Dream Yard mobile app is in development and not yet published to the App Store or Google Play. Today, the free concept is delivered through this website.
