Top 10 Landscaping Companies in Worcester, Massachusetts

Compare 10 Worcester landscaping companies for lawn care, landscape design, hardscaping, seasonal work, and snow services

Worcester homeowners should compare these 10 landscaping companies based on the work required, from mowing and lawn treatments to planting, hardscaping, and snow care. Hiring one usually means discussing the property, reviewing a written scope, confirming insurance, and agreeing on timing, materials, maintenance, and payment before work begins.

Worcester homeowners should choose a landscaper based on the actual job, whether that means weekly mowing, planting, drainage help, hardscaping, or winter snow work. Get the scope, schedule, materials, maintenance plan, and price in writing before the first shovel hits the ground.

Worcester has cold, snowy winters and humid summers, with freeze-thaw cycles that can shift pavers, crack masonry, and punish plants that are not suited to the site. Spring can arrive muddy, while compacted soil, exposed rock, shade, and poor drainage create very different problems from one neighborhood to the next.

A good local plan also respects the yard's soil and slope. Ask how a company handles runoff, salt damage, spring cleanup, lawn compaction, and plants that can manage Massachusetts winters without demanding a daily rescue mission.

Who are the best landscaping companies in Worcester?

Ordered by Google rating weighted against the number of ratings, so a long record of good work outranks a handful of perfect scores. This is a ranking of public feedback, not an endorsement.

1. Black Belt Landscaping

4.9 stars from 114 Google reviews.

Black Belt Landscaping focuses on lawn maintenance and turf care for homeowners who want a healthy, well-kept lawn without spending every weekend on it. Their services include regular mowing, fertilization, weed control, aeration, overseeding, and other seasonal lawn treatments.

What customers say:

After searching for a landscaping company, I called Black Belt when the local nursery referred us. My call was responded to quickly. Alex came out to view my property and gave me a reasonable estimate promptly. The crew came out within a week and they were fantastic. Our property had become overgrown and a large amount of brush and limbs needed clearing. Also our garden beds all needed refreshing. The crew was professional and friendly. I am so happy to have my yard looking nice again.

Susan Sundquist, 2 months ago

Wow. From my original vision to the consult & planning stage all the way through execution…working with Blackbelt was like the Staples “Easy Button”. My only regret is all the years I’ve struggled to get big projects done on my own without help. Digging out and moving large overgrown mature shrubs, properly planting costly trees and balancing new flowers was beyond me. Thank you Blackbelt you saved the day!

Stephanie Mulroy, a year ago

Great experience! Tore up space in front yard that was filled with weeds, dead plants/shrubs. Replaced with stone and pavers for future low maintenance. Managed to salvage a few plants/flowers and reposition in the new space. Re-shaped a couple overgrown trees that needed attention. For the most part, just two people doing the work on what were probably the two hottest days of the year. They were great. Prompt, diligent.

4. DNG Landscaping LLC

5.0 stars from 79 Google reviews.

DNG Landscaping LLC designs and builds outdoor spaces intended for relaxation, family gatherings, and entertaining. Their projects may include settings for quiet time by a fire or larger celebrations outdoors, with an emphasis on making the space welcoming and usable.

Absolutely in love with the work DNG completed for us! Total yard transformation. They were prompt, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to deal with. I’m so happy we went with Dimos & his crew, highly recommend. He helped with selections, was patient and his crew works clean and efficiently. Thank you for everything.

Lindsay B, 2 months ago

Very professional! We have a stone patio that is more beautiful than expected. We are amazed at how hard everybody worked and what incredible work they did. Dimos worked with us through it at all as we made some changes. We are very pleased. We received quotes from several other companies and are very glad that we made the decision to go with DNG Landscaping.!

Ann Guglielmo, 10 months ago

We recently hired DNG for a french drain install and they did a wonderful job. We have negative slope on one side of our home and had water seep into our basement via one of the basement windows during last year’s spring thaw. DNG was able to excavate the area (paying careful attention to the utilities and our mini split condenser), attach two downspouts with cleanouts, and install perforated pipe along the length of the house. They attached everything to solid PVC that runs around our driveway to a popup at the front of the property, and finished the work with a decorative stone bed. We were extremely impressed with the technical skill and patience of their excavator operator, Nick. He needed to operate in a tight radius with our house on one side and a neighbor’s car on the other - the work required skillful maneuvering and he did an amazing job. The crew was efficient with their work, digging in areas that required a bit more finesse, measuring slope for proper drainage, installing the stone bed and cobblestone, and cleaning up absolutely everything after each day on the job. We haven’t had a huge downpour to really test the system yet, but the area looks great and we couldn’t be happier with how things turned out. I’d highly recommend DNG to anyone needing landscaping work.

6. Reimagined Roots

5.0 stars from 74 Google reviews.

Reimagined Roots provides landscape design, construction, and long-term stewardship in Central Massachusetts. Their work includes native plantings, edible gardens, hardscaping, custom carpentry, and greenhouse installations, with an emphasis on outdoor spaces that are both useful and beautiful.

What customers say:

The whole crew from Reimagined Roots has been a great group to work with right from the start. We were looking to change areas of lawn into areas of native habitat along with adding a patio and some shade to our yard. The initial design work that Lucy presented made for a great starting off point. Careful planning and measuring, working with us on what to prioritize, winnowing down to our dream vision, and then reviewing the plans with us so we could tweak it as desired. When it became time to set up the initial work, she and Nate made the effort so that we would be “set up for success” – breaking up the overall work into smaller projects to make sure the first plantings could get the attention they’d need without overwhelming us with weed and water tasks. Steve managed the hardscape work and his attention to detail was evident throughout. Along the way he took the time to make sure we liked the results and had an opportunity to make decisions about how the project progressed. Drew, Mike, Carly, Rachael, Connor, and John - the planting crew - were all enthusiastic when they came on site. Every one of them worked so hard to ensure the ground was fully prepped and the plants went in quickly and in the right locations. While the plants went in, the shade went up which completed the project. Needless to say, it all looks amazing and we are incredibly happy with the results. We’re looking forward to continuing to work with Reimagined Roots as we continue our grass to plants journey.

Reimagined Roots installed our 26' Planta greenhouse over the course of three days, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. Stephen and Drew were professional, efficient, and kept the workspace clean throughout the entire project. Their attention to detail and organization really stood out. We already have tomatoes, peppers, and herbs planted, and everything is thriving. We’re excited to enjoy this new growing space for many years to come. Highly recommend their team!

Cyril Cabral, 3 months ago

Lucy and Nate came up with a gorgeous plan to beautify our backyard with native plants and new pavers to replace our crumbling century old brickwork and weeds. When we had a blip due to foundation issues, they generously recommended experts and graciously are waiting for those issues to be repaired before continuing. Highly recommended! We cannot recommend Reimagined Roots highly enough. Looks even better after cleaning off garage and fence and settled in for the fall.We can't wait for Spring!

7. Harris Lawn & Landscape

4.9 stars from 73 Google reviews.

Harris Lawn & Landscape aims to help Massachusetts residents enjoy their outdoor spaces through careful landscape service. The company describes its work as detail-oriented and built around high standards, consistent effort, quality care, and attentive customer service.

What customers say:

I hired an outstanding landscaping company, veteran family owned and operated, who are based in Worcester but cover jobs in a very large region, for some large skilled work that I knew I wouldn't be able to do. They are Harris Lawn & Landscape. The owner and operations manager are wonderful and professional to work with. The office manager is an absolute pleasure and delight to speak to and work with. The guys doing the work are very thorough and very hard workers and take great care and effort with everything they are doing. I was able to be out there with them and direct any details that I desired. They are incredibly accommodating and superb. I can't say enough about them. I give the Harris team my highest praise and recommendation. They were here for 6 hours yesterday and over 2 hours this morning to finish. I wanted to remove a large globe arborvitae bush in the backyard that was crowding the hedge rose on one side and the white azalea bush on the other side. It was also preventing some sunlight from reaching one of the lilac bushes. I have plenty of other evergreen in the front with the hedge and a tall arborvitae tree in the back along with pine. So I wanted to remove it. Not something I'm going to dig out myself, needless to say! I also wanted to remove 40% of the forsythia and prune the rest of it. It has five main root stalks, and I wanted to remove two of them and all the associated canopy. It makes it much better for me to handle. It's an absolute bear in the fall to remove leaves from underneath because of how it's growing. I can really get around it with the blower so much easier now. I also wanted to prune the rhododendron and also prune the 3 lilac bushes. Normally, I have pruned the rhododendron myself but since they were coming I included that in which was a big help, and they could do more. The canopy was getting really thick on the top of the lilac bushes, and about 25% was pruned to allow more sunlight in. It received a rejuvenation pruning and will produce even more flowers. The globe bush root ball and one of the forsythia roots needs a mini excavator to be brought in to remove them. That will be scheduled. They will also bring in fresh loam for that area. Once the excavator is done, I will plant grass seed and starter fertilizer where the open space is next to the remaining forsythia. Next spring I will figure out what new perennial to put there. It's a great space with direct sunlight, and it will be wonderful to have another flowering plant there. Same goes for where the globe bush has been. Nice open space with direct sunlight. I will plant some grass seed and starter fertilizer just in the strip in the front and in the back and leave the center section with the loam and put a perennial there next year as well. Something I can put between the hedge rose and the white azalea. Some other nice flowering perennial. So, mainly this year, grass seed and starter fertilizer and a lot of water for that to grow very well and thicken. Then, the time to think and consider a few new perennials to plant next spring! Harris Lawn & Landscape is awesome, and I'm enormously pleased! Here are the after and before pics! Tremendous improvement!

5 stars to Harris Lawn and Landscaping! We had them grade and lay sod to create a new, beautiful and healthy lawn. Their team showed pride in their work and their skill, expertise and professionalism was apparent. They did everything they said they would do, and did it within the agreed upon timeframe. We couldn't be happier with the outcome and would recommend them highly.

Connie Gardella, 3 months ago

Harris does such an incredible job. The staff they send are always professional, work diligently and don't spend any time smoking or chatting with each other while they are here (unlike many other lawn care businesses). They check in, they follow up, they do professional level work and they leave everything looking immaculate. Highest possible recommendation from me, and even more difficult, my wife who gave them an A+.

8. Campos Brothers Landscaping, LLC

4.4 stars from 73 Google reviews.

Campos Brothers Landscaping, LLC is a family-owned landscape construction company serving Massachusetts since 2006. Their fully insured team works on residential and commercial projects of any size, collaborating with homeowners, property managers, landscape committees, and architects through trained landscape professionals.

What customers say:

We called Campos brothers as we wanted to get a few projects done for our small backyard. Jacob took his time to listen to my ideas and came up with a really good plan for the walkway from the driveway, all the way to the backyard where his crew built the patio. His crew was great to work with. These guys finished the walkway, retaining walls with stairs, 450 sq ft patio and vinyl fence in 2 weeks. Cleaned and patched everything after they were done. Jacob was also generous to throw in a few extra things to make my yard look nicer (not part of the original quote). I'd highly recommend Campos brothers if you have any landscaping needs.

Utsav Shah, 2 years ago

I have hired Jacob and his team twice, both times with excellent results. The first project was a Rosary Garden at St. Annes in Shrewsbury and the second a retaining wall in Spencer. Both projects required extensive stone work which was expertly crafted by his team. Both projects were completed within budget and in timely fashion. I have found Jacob and his team to be easy to work with and very responsive to any and all requests regarding the projects. In short, I would highly recommend Jacob and Campos Brothers.

Jeffrey Frost, a year ago

Campos Brothers Landscaping has for years been taking good care of our lawn. This fall season, after comparing prices from multiple locations, we asked Jacob to renovate the back yard path, stairs, the walls around it and a long patch of untreated soil. Jacob consulted us with solutions and ideas. The work started on time and finished on time with no hassles. The workers were super nice and accurate, the work area was left clean every day. Jacob actually cared about the outcome looking beautiful and so he added some extras with no additional charge. We are very happy with the results hence this recommendation. I feel it's exceptional to get such a good service.

Travis is great! Very helpful and understanding. Easy to talk to and would help you meet your goals. The workers are very kind, friendly and respectful. Perrone did a beautiful job. Much better than I expected. My wife loves it! - Leka

F L, 3 months ago

We had a large project at our camp on the lake that required extensive hardscaping. Menfi, who handles all of the hardscaping for Perrone, was phenomenal. Professional, patient, efficient, responsive, and very skilled at his craft. His communication skills are amazing. Everything was seamless, and I could not get over how quickly the project went. Walter and his co worker (I feel bad that I do not remember his name) were hard working and kept the site spotless. Our neighbors on both sides were very pleased and commented how hard working they are. The price was fair for the extent of the work needed. This is our first time using Perrone, and it will not be our last!

Laurie Cole, 5 months ago

Highly recommend. Called Perrone for an estimate on cleaning up our landscaping at the front and side of the house. Jeff came out within a few days, couldn't have been nicer and more reasonable. He had some great, creative recommendations as well, above and beyond what we had in mind. We put the deposit down and within a few weeks they were out here. Did a tremendous job, completed all of the work exactly as requested, and as promised Jeff showed up to oversee the work being done and ensure everything was correct. The guys doing the work were extremely professional and polite. We will most definitely be using them in the future.

How do you choose a landscaper in Worcester?

Start with the problem, not the prettiest portfolio photo. A mowing company may be perfect for a small weekly lawn, while a landscape designer or construction crew makes more sense for grading, patios, walls, planting plans, or drainage work.

Ask for a site visit and a written proposal. It should explain the work, materials, cleanup, maintenance, timing, and what happens if weather delays the project. Worcester's freeze-thaw weather can change a schedule quickly, so vague promises are not helpful.

Check that the company carries appropriate insurance, and ask who handles permits or utility marking if the project involves excavation, walls, drainage, or major construction. For lawn care, ask about mowing frequency, fertilization, weed control, aeration, overseeding, and how treatments fit your household and pets.

Use this quick comparison when sorting through estimates:

Project need Questions to ask Details to compare
Routine mowing How often will the lawn be serviced? Weekly or biweekly visits, edging, cleanup, and seasonal changes
Lawn renovation Does the plan include soil preparation? Aeration, dethatching, overseeding, fertilization, and weed control
Planting design Which plants fit the light and soil? Winter hardiness, mature size, maintenance, and spring or fall timing
Patio, wall, or pathway Who handles base preparation and drainage? Materials, excavation, slope, freeze-thaw details, and warranty terms
Snow and seasonal work What areas are included after a storm? Trigger depth, response timing, deicing practices, and access requirements

Do not compare estimates by price alone. A low bid that skips drainage, soil preparation, or cleanup can become a very expensive bargain, and a company that asks good questions before quoting is usually showing you how carefully it will approach the work.

Frequently asked questions

How much does landscaping cost in Worcester, Massachusetts?

The price depends on the job, property size, access, materials, and site conditions. Routine mowing is usually priced by visit or season, while planting, patios, walls, drainage, and grading require a site visit and written estimate.

When should I hire a landscaper in Worcester?

Book early for spring cleanups, planting, lawn renovation, patios, and walls because seasonal schedules fill quickly. Fall is often a good time for planting and some landscape construction, while snow service should be arranged before winter storms begin.

What should a landscaping contract include?

A clear contract should list the exact work, materials, quantities, cleanup, timing, payment schedule, maintenance responsibilities, change-order terms, and any warranty. For snow service, it should also explain the storm trigger, response timing, treated areas, and deicing approach.

Can a landscaper help with poor drainage or compacted soil?

Many landscape contractors can assess slope, runoff, compaction, and planting conditions, then recommend grading, drainage features, soil improvement, or plants suited to the site. Ask specifically about past drainage projects and make sure the proposal explains how water will move after the work.
