Top 10 Landscaping Companies in Tallahassee, Florida
Compare 10 Tallahassee landscaping companies for lawn care, drainage, outdoor living, planting and full landscape projects
October 4, 2026
By Valeria Navarro

A Tallahassee homeowner should call the company whose services match the job, whether that means mowing, pine straw, drainage, planting or a patio. Hiring one usually involves a site visit, a written scope, pricing, scheduling and follow-up care. Ask how the plan handles heat, heavy rain, shade and local soil.
Tallahassee yards live through long, humid summers, sudden downpours and mild winters that still bring an occasional freeze. Many properties have sandy, acidic soil, while others hold more clay, especially where grading or construction has changed the ground. That mix can make watering and drainage a little dramatic.
Pine trees drop needles, shade encourages moss, and summer rain can expose weak grading fast. Watch for standing water, eroding beds, thin turf and plants that look tired even after a storm. A good landscaper should read the yard before reaching for a new shrub, because Florida sunshine and Florida shade are two very different roommates.

What customers say:
Brian at Fielder worked with me to design a flagstone path with lighting and their crew did the installation. The end result is very attractive. It is much more functional and safe. The crew was extremely hard working and polite. Clear Flow Drainage, a service affiliated with Fielder, also blew off my roofs and cleaned the gutters. Canyon, Mitch and Cole were prompt and quickly did the service. I was very pleased.

We had the pleasure of working with Ashley from Fielder for the installation of our firepit. She was incredibly helpful in assisting us to create a design that surpassed both our expectations and our budget. We wholeheartedly recommend Fielder.

Fielder did an excellent job on our yard. We worked with Ashley and she was great! She drew up plans of what we wanted and then patiently redid them a few times at our request when we wanted include additional parts of our yard. They took care of yard cleanup, cutting trees down, drainage issues, all the irrigation and sodding of the whole yard. Thank you so much for making our yard look amazing!!

A representative came and gave the quote. A video of my lawn was taken and he took detailed notes of my expectations. The agreement for service was made. The price was reasonable. I was not home when the two young men arrived. The two men were cleaning up and preparing to leave when i returned home. I had the opportunity to meet with them. They did exactly and more than I had agreed upon. My lawn and hedges had been neglected for a while. They did an outstanding job and were very professional. They went above and beyond to fulfill my expectations. The results shows their passion and pride for doing it great the first time! Thank you and keep your great attitude.

Today was my first lawn care with Augusta. My technicians were Valentine and Hayden and they did a good job for me. Unfortunately, just as they were finishing up it poured, so I really didn’t get a chance to visit with them. But they will be here next week and are great guys.
Mary Cariseo Detzner, 2 months ago
Augusta is a trustworthy local landscaping company that my wife and I fell in love with. The services are consistent and timely. The fact that they provide a schedule and have a site for requests takes the hard work out of yard work! Valentine and Hayden made a lasting impression; meticulous and very respectful young men. They did a wonderful job that both the wife and I loved and we hope to continue with Augusta services!

James and his wife do an amazing job on our front and back yard. They edge the driveway and the sidewalk and always make sure the outdoor patio areas are tidy before they leave. It’s been one of the best decisions ever to use James! The ease of the LawnStarter app makes it even better. I can adjust the frequency or even reschedule when I need to with the touch of a button. Great experience for us!

I was very happy with this service. I requested grass mowing service from LawnStarter because I could not find anyone local at a decent price or who would show up. LawnStarter gave me an online quote by reviewing a satellite photo of my home and it was $40 cheaper than the last quote. I'm thinking oh now that I got a quote they won't find anyone to mow my grass, but they had someone assigned to me for the day I picked within a couple of hours. The person who came to cut the grass did a great job. I am ecstatic this whole process is over and I have a permanent lawn guy.

Liam went absolutely above and beyond during my lawn service. His attention to detail was more than I’ve ever seen across any other lawn company and he kept me informed along the way. My yard was honestly a jungle, but Liam was able to navigate through everything without harming any of my rose bushes while also getting all of the weeds and grass manicured. Honestly could not have asked for a better service.

If you are looking for a reputable lawn care company with competitive pricing look no further than Sergeant Smith Lawn Care. I was fortunate to find this company after much research on Google. My initial call to them was ever so pleasant. The owner took my call, was very kind and spend a good amount of time with me going over what I needed. He immediately scheduled an assessment visit and I received a quote the following day. Their pricing beat out all others plus they delivered on their scheduled date and did a phenomenal job making my front yard look absolutely amazing.

I had a great experience with Tallahassee Lawn and Landscape Irrigation Repair. They were professional, punctual, and quickly diagnosed and fixed the issues with my irrigation system. They explained everything clearly, charged a fair price, and made sure everything was working perfectly before they left. It’s refreshing to find a company that takes pride in their work and provides such excellent customer service. I highly recommend them to anyone needing irrigation repair or maintenance!
David Pickenpaugh, 3 months ago
This was the best experience!! I can’t praise Garrett and Gabe enough for their patience helping me to understand my irrigation system and making decisions about location etc. I got my first home 6 yrs ago and most seniors have established service personnel for everything that goes wrong. Not me! I have had the hardest time finding honest people and good workers who don’t rush thru the job. These guys care about doing things right the first time. They are great listeners as I had a lot tell them to explain the history of my issues. At last I have found an irrigation company that cared to teach me about my system. These two men were professional, and careful with my property and definitely had the skills to diagnosis my complex job and fix it. I didn’t have to wait and schedule to have it fixed another day. They know plumbing too so they could explain and trouble shoot. Others only change heads of the sprinkler. They did a thorough assessment of all my sprinklers to dx the leak I had. It was a zone issue. They hoped they could repair it but after good efforts , it had to be replaced. What i appreciate most ,they simple don’t try to sell or replace anything that doesn’t need replacing. I truly felt I had someone on my side, and I knew I could trust them to do only what’s necessary. I was given options and they even allowed me to be involved in the sprinkler settings for my specification. They do aim to please and soo very patience and kind to a person who has trouble with decision making. I only wish they could be my GoTo handymen for all household issues. I have dreaded to hire someone for this job but because of this experience, it’s given me confidence about being able to effectively address future projects. I truly have been losing faith in people as our world becomes more corrupt and hateful and never knowing who you can trust. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Garrett and Gabe for shinning Hope in my life today and encouragement that calling service workers out doesn’t have to be stressful as I have experienced. Thank you for your beautiful spirit, that has taught me not to give up faith that good honest people that genuinely care and do great work still do exist. I needed that lesson more than you’ll know! Blessings. If you need Irrigation help, do not hesitate to call Tallahassee Lawn and Landscaping!! They know what they are doing!!

Brian and the team are very thorough and efficient and get the job done with no complaints and always a smile. I wouldn't use anyone else! Keep up the great work!

Very happy with the service that Shamrock nurseries provided. Very knowledgeable and a great value, even gave me some tips about other things that they saw in my yard that needed some attention.

I discovered this place in Tallahassee back in early March and I can’t brag about them enough! I originally was looking for some new foundational shrubs to fill in along my house that I recently purchased and have been back 10 times since. The staff is friendly and helpful in recommending good options for what you’re looking for. They grow all of the plants themselves so they transplant into the yard beautifully (since they’re used to these conditions). I cant leave there without grabbing something. The prices for the quality is unmatched!
Jordan Gibbs, a year ago
Shamrock's Nursery is a deserving 5 star rated family owned business. They provide a complete line of nursery plants, materials and services to satisfy most consumers. Cody and crews did an outstanding job in performing the lawn and landscaping makeovers at 2 locations in our subdivision, at my request. They were extremely professional, timely, and competitive in pricing. You won't go wrong in seeking their help for all your landscaping needs!

Mike was the total professional! We re-sodded the entire yard with Zoysia grass - 25 pallets. His crew got up the old, bad grass and weeds, smoothed and landscaped for the yard drainage system, and then laid down new sod. Hard working crew! Final job looks great! Thanks Mike and crew for a super great job!!
Rick Huffman, 3 years ago
They sent a bid wanting $100 for the initial service. I told them someone just took care of my lawn. I then asked why do I have to pay $100. They relied with oh we are no longer taking new clients. If a lawn service asks for extra money for the first service on a clean yard, then they are in my opinion just trying to charging extra money to offset their lower bid. Why not just bid a higher price to start.

How do you choose a landscaper in Tallahassee?
Start with the problem, not the prettiest project photo. A mowing company may be perfect for routine care, while a drainage issue, retaining wall or outdoor room needs a contractor with the right design and installation experience.
Ask for a written scope that spells out plant quantities, materials, grading, irrigation changes, cleanup and maintenance after installation. Tallahassee rain can test a new bed quickly, so ask where water will go and how the design will handle runoff. Also ask which plants suit the site's sun, soil and mature size. A tiny pot can become a very large neighbor.
Before signing, compare the practical details:
| What to compare | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Services offered | Confirms the company can handle mowing, planting, drainage, hardscape or outdoor living work as needed. |
| Site assessment | Reveals whether shade, slope, soil and stormwater are part of the plan. |
| Written scope | Prevents confusion about materials, labor, irrigation, cleanup and maintenance. |
| Communication | Sets expectations for scheduling, weather delays and changes during the project. |
| Ongoing care | Shows who will manage pruning, mulch or pine straw, irrigation checks and seasonal upkeep. |
Get more than one estimate for a major installation, but do not compare prices until the scopes match. The cheapest plan can become expensive if it ignores drainage, mature plant size or the watering a new bed will need during a Tallahassee summer.
Frequently asked questions
What does landscaping cost in Tallahassee?
Pricing depends on whether the work is routine lawn care, planting, pine straw, drainage, irrigation or a larger hardscape project. Ask for a written estimate that separates materials, labor, cleanup and ongoing maintenance.
What plants grow well in Tallahassee?
The right choices depend on sun, drainage and soil, but many Tallahassee yards can support native and Florida-adapted trees, shrubs, perennials and ornamental grasses. A landscaper should match plants to the site's shade, moisture and mature size rather than choosing only by appearance.
How can I fix standing water in my Tallahassee yard?
Start by identifying whether the issue comes from a slope, compacted soil, roof runoff, a blocked outlet or an undersized drainage route. A qualified landscaper can assess the grade and recommend swales, drains, rain gardens, grading or another solution suited to the property.
Is pine straw good for Tallahassee flower beds?
Pine straw can help cover soil, reduce weed pressure and retain moisture. It needs periodic refreshing, and beds should still be checked for runoff, pests, plant crowns buried too deeply and soil that stays wet after heavy rain.
