The 10 Best Landscaping Companies in St. Paul, Minnesota
Find the top 10 landscapers in St. Paul, MN, for design, installation, and year-round yard care
September 10, 2026
By Valeria Navarro

St. Paul homeowners should look to local landscapers for everything from spring cleanups to full yard redesigns. Hiring a pro means you get expertise in Minnesota soils, seasons, and curb appeal. This list highlights the top-rated companies, so you can find help for projects big or small, from patios to perennial beds.
St. Paul’s yards work hard. Heavy snow, spring melt, and clay soil that holds water until it doesn’t. By July, you might see your lawn go patchy, or your flower beds drown in a sudden storm. The roots have to be tough.
Landscaping here means planning for freeze and thaw, for salt on the sidewalks, and for that first tulip that pops up while there’s still ice in the alley. A good landscape crew knows how to build for all four seasons, and how to keep your yard looking sharp through every one of them.
Who are the best landscaping companies in St. Paul?
Ordered by Google rating weighted against the number of ratings, so a long record of good work outranks a handful of perfect scores. This is a ranking of public feedback, not an endorsement.

What customers say:
We are so happy with our landscaping project. We used them to bury gutters, fix a drainage issue on our side yard, and add rock, a pathway, and trees next to our deck. Great quality work, the team was easy to work with, and good communication. I highly recommend them!

We worked closely with Brandon and the team at 3 Bears for 2 summers in a row - the first was spent preparing a space for a play fort and the second was a major backyard project with landscaping and hardscaping (patio and paths) when we got a swimming pool installed. Brandon worked closely with us to create designs (including 3D renderings) that made us feel comfortable with the size of the second project and he coordinated with the swimming pool installers, masons, and irrigation company to ensure that everything went smoothly. Ultimately, we ended up with a beautiful and functional space that we will enjoy with family and friends for many years. And we got this amazing, truly customized result for less than what other, larger (and more corporate-feeling) landscape companies estimated for us. Brandon - thanks for the multiple years of partnership making our backyard blossom into a magical space!

I've worked with 3 Bears for years on multiple projects and they deliver every time. The communication on each project is terrific and the execution has been perfect. We had our back patio redone and backyard filled with plants and it turned out fantastic. Would recommend them highly to anyone with landscaping projects.

What customers say:
Casey along with the Design/ Project teams and landscape crews from Landscapes Unlimited were outstanding to work with on our recent retaining wall project. Work included, in our sloped backyard, demolition of both a large, tiered timber retaining wall and several block walls including debris haul away. These walls were replaced with granite walls, outcrops, and a dry creek rip rap bed following a new design for our hillside. Project also included installation of edging, mulch, sod and lighting. Work was completed on time, with responsive, timely communications with the team and crew throughout the project. Particularly notable was the care and creativity by the crew in selecting and placing the granite rocks in building the new walls. This project was a very positive experience for us and would highly recommend Landscapes Unlimited for any of your landscape needs!

I have used Landscapes Unlimited for several services and was just reminded why I have them back. I reached out via email and Casey Hedeen got back to me within hours. He came over and gave me great ideas and an estimate for landscaping for the front. It was a mess. I ended up having them finish up the side and take care of water issues with the gutters and relocation of drains. This entire evolution from my initial email to finished project was less than a week. The crew was professional and knowledgeable and cleaned up everything. It looks fantastic! I’m looking forward to when the hydrangeas and grasses grow and fill in. I’ll be reaching out to them for my future outdoor kitchen and lighting projects. Thanks so much!! I live in Mendota Heights.

I live in the Upper Oaks in Inver Grove Heights off 75Th street. My HOA contracted Landscapes Unlimited recently right before this last storm for Snow Removal. Very blessed and relieved they picked this company they take care of EVERYTHING and don't miss a thing! Right after the snow stopped falling they were here clearing our main street and our garage entrances! Very nice to not get snowed in till 12pm the next day! They went all the way up to the curb and our gates, garage doors, in-between the doors where the ice builds up (most Important), parking pads, and the full sidewalk! Our last company would plow a pass in-front of the garage's and be done, let the city do 2 passes around the circle and block cars in for days and just leave it snow above the door panel's. Not this company they took care of all the parking spots they could, plowed the circle avoided blocking in cars and all of the stuff I said before! Here we are 3 days after the storm and they are back cleaning out the other parking spots, perfect timing Monday morning all the cars that park on the road as well are gone! They brought a plow out and a skid and cleaned up the roads, and I can say for everyone that lives here we are so thankful they take such a tiny detail into mind!!! We have very little parking options so getting left with all the snow where the cars park is such a pain turning into hard solid ice. Going slow and careful to not slam their plow down! I called and thanked them personally and the gentleman was very glad and thankful I called, said they don't get it often made me so happy I did!! Very good company with your peace of mind in theirs!! Pass them on Concord very often they always have their shit together any time of the day!!

What customers say:
Southview Design as been handling our landscaping and snow removal for about 6 years now and I can not say enough good things about Josh S and the team at Southview Design. I am a Property Manager at a distribution center in Shakopee Mn that lays on 95 acres of land with a 1.3 million sq ft building with 623 tractor trailer parking spots and 636 car parking spots. Needless to say it adds up to a lot of snow plowing/salting and shoveling throughout the property. We are contracted with Southview to respond to trace amounts of snow and they are always on time to the site to respond to the event with no complaints from the tenants. Billing is prompt and accurate. They also provide an After Snow Review to assure you that they are following up on the service they provided. They also provide all our Landscape/irrigation needs. Lawn care is exceptional and irrigation systems are well maintained. Contract pricing is very competitive. Southview Design delivers on the services they provide and I would highly recommend using them.

You guys drive like jerks. Speeds of more than 20 over. Seen your company several times driving like this. I'd like you to comment your insurance company name so you can be reported. People pay a lot of money for their vehicles and put their loved ones in their cars so you guys can risk everyone's lives to save 30 seconds?
Uncle Jamie, a month ago
After searching for five years, we finally found a landscape company to help design and implement a landscape project in the front of our home and alongside our driveway. Southview developed the perfect plan to accompany the design of our home and our location along the river bluffs. The landscape crews were friendly, hard working, skilled and took great pride in their work. The project supervisor and design manager worked together during the installation. They did not hesitate to tweak, and improve the design without additional cost. We were totally satisfied with all the facets of the project. We got what we paid for and Southview Design was very appreciative of the business opportunity.

What customers say:
We are truly happy with the service we received from Russ Henry and his staff at Minnehaha Landscaping. We have a creekside backyard and wanted to both reduce the time to maintain it, reduce the need to water, and make changes to benefit the creek and surrounding environment. Russ Henry is extremely knowledgeable and committed to designing such environments. We chose to develop half the yard into a bee lawn and the other half into an area that includes a rain garden, raised bed planters and pollinator garden. Russ and his staff maintained excellent communication with us throughout the project and were a delight to work with. We were particularly impressed with the craftsmanship executed by the landscaping staff and how conscientious they were to clean up the site each day, always being careful to not intrude on our neighbor’s yard. We could not be more pleased with the design, plant choices and workmanship. Thank you Russ, Brian and Minnehaha Landscaping!
Barbara Pierson, 2 months ago
Start to finish this experience was an A+. My project consisted of removing a deck and installing a paver patio. After getting several bids Minnehaha Landscaping was the standout. Russ arrived and provided an estimate same day and answered all of my questions (and I had a lot) thoroughly making sure I was comfortable with all the aspects. My PM Brian was incredible- after removing the deck the scope of the project changed and he stayed in close communication with me through it all. I wouldn’t hesitate to refer them to anyone, and I look forward to the next phase of the project next year.
Mary Bandrek, a month ago
We are long time customers of Minnehaha Falls Landscaping. As I sit on my porch watching the monarch butterflies enjoying my pollinator garden I appreciate the service we’ve had over the years. It started with their snow removal service as we decided doing it ourselves was too much. Next up were the pollinator gardens and replacing our lawn with no mow bee gardens. This year we added garden maintenance to the mix so gardening is not a chore but is enjoyable. We recommend them very highly.

We had Jack and his team come and re-sod our yard recently and the transformation is amazing.. just beautiful. The job was done so professionally and quickly and our neighbors continue to comment on what a nice job they did. I can't recommend them enough. I would also note that Jacks bid was lower than 2 other bids we received. Highly recommend!

I purchased a yard of raised bed mix. I’ve been gardening for 30 years using the rich black dirt in my yard. My plants are outpacing any plantings have done in the past. There was little debris in with the garden mix. There was less debris than the hundred year-old ground I was using for a garden before. It takes many yards of material to bring it down to a yard of compost. You may find a little debris, but nothing to hinder your plants. Five of my neighbors use the product and are extremely happy
Bruce Thompson, 3 months ago
Kern destroyed my garden bed with their dump truck during a soil delivery, and the garden bed mix they delivered was full of trash: Rope, rubber, tubing, wire, broken glass, and a ton of plastic, including an entire water bottle. Months later, after phone calls and many emails, they still have not offered a refund and have made no effort to help make things right. I will never buy from Kern again. May 2026 update: One year later still finding all kinds of trash in my "compost," everything from plastic to rubber to broken glass.
Andy Thompson, 3 months ago
My mulch was about 10% rocks (hundreds) with sizes varying 3” to 7” that got stuck in my pick fork. Yes 7” rocks. And I’d say it was about 5% styrofoam. It took me three times longer than it should have picking out rocks from the mulch and my pitch forks. And they put the mulch in the exact opposite side I wanted it making it so I couldn’t get into my garage and the pile was exactly two inches from crashing into my basement windows… I’ll never go here again. So much other garbage in it also… they are polluters…

What customers say:
We recently completed a large landscaping project with Minnesota Landscaping, and we couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. It's rare to envision a project and have it turn out even better than expected—almost unheard of these days! Patrick and Kelly were wonderful to work with. They listened carefully to our wants and needs and incorporated them seamlessly into a beautiful design. Their communication, attention to detail, and timeliness throughout the project were greatly appreciated. The installation team was phenomenal! George and Jose were incredibly talented, hardworking, and knowledgeable about plants and landscaping. They were also extremely flexible and accommodating. For example, we have two energetic rescue dogs, and as the project evolved, we kept asking them to add more protective fencing to keep our new plantings safe. They were always happy to help and made adjustments without hesitation. Rick, who handled the landscape lighting installation, was just as professional and knowledgeable as everyone else on the team. We kept deciding to add more lighting throughout the project, and he was always accommodating and eager to make our vision come to life. The entire team was professional, highly skilled, respectful, and genuinely enjoyable to work with. Their craftsmanship and commitment to customer satisfaction exceeded our expectations. Without reservation, we highly recommend Minnesota Landscaping to anyone looking for landscaping services!

Excellent experience with MN Landscapes. We had major landscaping projects they did for us and it was utterly flawless. The responded with their bid right away, they were the only landscaper that addressed all the issues we asked them for, they showed up when they said they would, and the work was simply excellent. I highly recommend them.

Could not more highly recommend Monson Landscaping. Tom was kind, knowledgeable, prompt with his communication, and the team did a great job. What I appreciated most was his communication - I was never turfed to an automated answering machine or third party company - I got to discuss the project directly with Tom, which helped give me peace of mind and allowed for us to discuss exactly the work that needed to be done.
Johanna Sehloff, a month ago
Just had to let you know that we had a positive experience with Tom and his crew regarding an error that was made last summer. The crew accidentally delivered a large load of decorative rock to our driveway instead of their intended customer's home which was next door. The young man who made the delivery immediately contacted his boss, Tom. His response was quick and impressive. The rock was removed from our driveway right away. Unfortunately, the seal on the driveway was damaged due to the weight of the rock and shovel scrape marks. Tom arranged to have our driveway re-sealed since we just had it done the summer before and we had a graduation party coming up. Even though we were not the actual customer, we would use and recommend Monson Lawn and Landscaping because of their professionalism, integrity and dedication to resolving this issue.

Thanks Monson Lawn & Landscaping you did a great job!!! Special shout out to Andy he busted his back to get this done today!
