Top 10 Landscaping Companies in San Bernardino, California
Compare 10 San Bernardino landscaping companies and learn how to choose help for irrigation, drought, heat, slopes and everyday yard care
September 27, 2026
By Diego Navarro

A San Bernardino homeowner should compare these 10 landscaping companies based on irrigation skill, plant knowledge, drainage experience and the kind of work needed. Hiring one usually means reviewing the site, agreeing on a written scope, choosing plants and materials, setting an installation schedule, and planning maintenance for a hot, dry Inland Empire climate.
A San Bernardino yard has to handle hot, dry summers, strong sun, occasional frost and long stretches without meaningful rain. Watering is usually the first system to inspect, because a clogged emitter or broken valve can turn a healthy planting bed into a crispy little lesson in plumbing.
Soil varies across the Inland Empire, but compacted fill, rocky ground, poor drainage and sloped lots are common enough to ask about before work begins. A landscaper may need to correct grading, improve soil, manage runoff or build a planting plan that still looks alive in September instead of surrendering in July.
Decomposed granite, mulch, shade trees, native plants and properly timed drip irrigation can all help, but the right combination depends on sun, slope, soil and water access. A pretty plan that ignores those four things is just an expensive way to meet the same dead plants later.
Who are the best landscaping companies in San Bernardino?
Ordered by Google rating weighted against the number of ratings, so a long record of good work outranks a handful of perfect scores. This is a ranking of public feedback, not an endorsement.

Very professional and I highly recommend for all of your landscaping needs. My project was a complete renovation including grading, sprinkler system, sod, gopher wire, concrete patio, sidewalks, vinyl fencing and gate, retaining wall, flower beds, drought tolerant plants, shredded bark, river rocks, gravel and pavers. They communicated with me every step of the way including suggestions to complete the overall project. They were on time, respectful and pricing was as proposed. Many thanks to all the crew that brought my vision to reality.

We have had both our front yard and backyard done by Schubert Landscaping and all I can say is WOW. A complete transformation and drought tolerant. The whole crew is very professional, courteous and attentive. They take their time when drawing your design and are very knowledgeable answering any questions. What customers say:
I am disappointed with the lack of communication and unprofessionalism. At first impression Mr. Morales was nice and we had scheduled a time to have my mother's yard taken care of. After a few days of attempts to get a hold of Mr. Morales via repeated calls, messages, and voicemails, they went unanswered and I had several questions about the services like time of arrival, rates, etc...that were not clear so I sent a message saying we are canceling. Mr. Morales showed up to the house but did not communicate he was there, nor did I receive a call so I may have provided some backup. There were several instances where this could have gone smoothly if the communication had been better. We are now looking for alternatives and I do not recommend this business.

I've used H&R since 2004 and Hugo and his team have always done a very clean job at a reasonable price. Hugo has even done a few extras (such as annual rose bush trimming) without my asking, even though his contract was for mowing and edging only. He has always been responsive to my calls and texts, and has always been willing to accommodate any special requests that I've had.
Arctic Cat, 9 years ago
Zero communication. Hugo agreed to show up on Thursday the 18th at 3pm. We spoke the day before that he'd let me know if anything changes. I left work early to be there for him. He called me exactly at 3 that he wasn't going to make it. He then said he'd meet me on the coming up Saturday between 9 and 10 am. He just didn't show up. I'm sure his actual work might be good? But I can't comment on that since he doesn't show or communicate.

What customers say:
We’ve worked with Osvi and O&B Landscaping twice now and both times were fantastic. Recently, O&B completed a full backyard renovation. We told Osvi what we wanted and he brought our vision to life. Communication with Osvi throughout the process was great, he let us know what was happening next, if there was a delay due to weather, and answered all of our questions. We chose O&B due to their clean work, attention to detail, and quality materials. One other plus is the employees, the O&B employees who worked on our yard were friendly and very respectful. Our backyard turned out better than we expected. I would absolutely recommend O&B Landscaping for any project.
Kimmy Kabluyen, 6 months ago
Great experience with O&B Landscape! From the moment Osvi came out to provide recommendations, to the timely installation, it was all an easy process. The workers were very professional and made sure to meet all of our needs. Thank you and will definitely recommend you to all my friends and family! Work performed; new cement for patio, insulated patio w/ 2 fans/lights and privacy wall. In addition they were able to mount my tv and install flood lights.
Uriel Luevano, a year ago
Osvi and his team did an amazing job with our front and back yard. He is your one stop shop for anything that you need to get done. From design to execution, he's got you covered. He is also fully equipped from excavators, mixers, bobcats etc.. He has multiple teams doing the specific jobs like prep work, cement guys, turf guys, planter guys, patio guys, electric guys etc... Because of this, his team got the job done very quickly. Also, we were also delighted to see they have uniforms with matching shirts and hats. His team was professional, respectful to the homeowner and happy workers. If you are having second thoughts about O&B, don't. Just do it, give him your money and he will transform your backyard into your personal oasis.

What customers say:
Both my wife and I were very pleased with the landscaping work done by A&M Landscaping. Owners Jose & Angie were very pleasant, professional and knowledgeable on what plants were seasonal and suggested an entire landscape plan for our front and back yards. Most importantly they were very reasonably priced, kept our property cleaned up on a daily basis and completed the entire project on schedule. I am the type of customer that will always compete residential work out, ...But I still need to feel that the contractor has to be genuinely interested in their line of work ..... and dedicated to the project their hired to do ...and not just out to make a quick buck. A&M Landscaping met my expectations on all of the above. Again, I highly recommend them.
David Bentley, a year ago
My experience with A&M Landscaping was great. I shopped around and got a couple of quotes and they were by far the best price for what I wanted. Not only that, but they were very informative, helping me make decisions and showing me different options to even save money. Jesus and Angie are great to work with.
Mario Cardona, a year ago
I reached out to Chuy (Jesus) a couple of weeks ago to get an estimate for some work I needed done to the side of my home and he, long with his Angie arrived the following day to survey the work. Once the they did their assessment they informed me they would send me an estimate within 24 hours. Sure enough, within 24 hours I had my estimate. The estimate was fair and the information that was provided on the estimate was great as well. I went ahead and confirmed and a date was set. Chuy and Angie arrived on the agreed upon date and began to make short work to the side of my yard. I can’t believe what a great job they did and I HIGHLY recommend them! They went above and beyond what we agreed on and I can’t thank them enough.

Juan and his team were amazing. Best decision I’ve ever made. From beginning to end they did everything they promised and more. I have been wanting to do a major makeover in my backyard for over eight years. I’ve had several bids and never felt good about the designs proposed or the price. Then I met Juan. I had a budget and an expectation. All other contractors said it couldn’t be done, and offered less desirable alternatives. When I met with Juan, he not only said he would do it, but offered alternatives I would have never considered that blew me away. In all fairness, I did go over my budget a little, but the design was worth it. During the construction, Juan kept in close contact with me and his crew to make sure everything was done properly and to my satisfaction. The job was more difficult than he expected because the terrain was full of rocks and boulders. He had to bring in heavy equipment. Then he came up with a plan to use some of the boulders as accent pieces for the yard. Not once did he suggest that the job was too difficult or too many changes to the plan that I would have to increase my budget. He delivered what he promised and more despite the difficulties. I loved his work so much, I had him come back and install my patio cover. A masterpiece.

I've been waiting for years to find the right people to trust with my yard. I had built a pool a few years ago and it needed some landscaping done. Grass Monkey made my dream come true. They were professional, polite, and very reasonable. They didn't try to up sale me. They worked with my vision and budget. I honestly couldn't be happier. My backyard is perfect!!!! Their work is top tier.

We recently had the pleasure of hiring Enio and his team for a full sod installation and sprinkler system. The team showed up on time and finished within a single day. I’m very thankful I came across E N D on my search for sprinkler/irrigation construction. During the process I added a drip line to be ran and it wasn’t an issue. The work came out clean and Enio assured I could reach out should anything come up and he’d return. We plan on having them back for future projects.

Great work on my small yard. Our plan is simple, just grading the yard and put concrete in the main area, then wood mulch for the side edge. Quick operation with decent quality and reasonable price. Will definitely hire them for more in the future.

What customers say:
Ramos Tree & Landscaping likes throwing trash all over the city vs. advertising in a way that doesn’t involve systematic littering I’ve picked up 5+ rock-filled bags just in the last week from my neighborhood, all containing a flyer for their company. At best, it’s an ineffective strategy for advertising, and at worst it causes trash on the lawns of people you’re trying to turn into customers. Not a very brilliant scheme.

Ramos Tree Service removed one of my backyard trees. The work was done quickly and professionally. Area was cleaned. I highly recommend their work for anyone that needs it.

How do you choose a landscaper in San Bernardino?
Start with the work itself. A company that is strong at commercial maintenance may not be the right fit for a residential retaining wall, while a pond specialist may not be the best choice for a full irrigation replacement. Ask for a site visit and a written scope that separates design, demolition, grading, irrigation, planting, hardscape and ongoing care.
For San Bernardino properties, ask how the company will handle heat, water use and drainage. The estimate should identify plant sizes, irrigation zones, controller changes, soil amendments, mulch or gravel depth, drainage outlets and cleanup. If the answer is simply "we will make it work," keep your shovel nearby. You may need it.
Check that the proposal includes a payment schedule, warranty terms and who handles permits or utility checks if the project needs them. For tree work, ask about pruning methods and timing, especially around oak trees. For irrigation, request a zone-by-zone test after installation, with the run time and flow problems documented.
Use the comparison below to organize your questions before you hire anyone:
| Project need | Questions to ask | Details to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Irrigation repair or replacement | Will every zone be tested? Are valves, emitters and the controller included? | Run times, parts, pressure problems and final testing |
| Drought-tolerant planting | Which plants fit the sun, soil and frost exposure? | Plant sizes, spacing, soil preparation and watering plan |
| Grading or drainage | Where will runoff go during a heavy storm? | Slope changes, drainage outlets, erosion control and cleanup |
| Hardscape or paths | What base material and depth will be used? | Excavation, compaction, edging, drainage and settlement warranty |
| Pond or water feature | Who supplies and installs the equipment? | Pump access, electrical work, maintenance and leak responsibility |
| Ongoing maintenance | What is included each visit? | Mowing, pruning, weed control, irrigation checks and seasonal work |
Before signing, walk the property with the contractor and mark irrigation lines, gates, trees and areas that must stay accessible. Get changes in writing, because memory becomes remarkably creative once the crew has already poured concrete.
Frequently asked questions
How much does landscaping cost in San Bernardino?
The price depends on whether the work involves maintenance, irrigation repair, planting, grading, drainage or hardscape construction. Ask for a written estimate that separates labor, materials, demolition, soil work and ongoing service instead of accepting one lump sum with no scope.
What are the best low-water plants for a San Bernardino yard?
Good choices often include California natives and other plants suited to hot, dry Inland Empire conditions, such as manzanita, California sagebrush, deer grass, lantana and rosemary. Match each plant to its sun exposure, soil drainage and frost risk, then group plants with similar watering needs.
How often should landscaping irrigation run in San Bernardino?
There is no single schedule for every yard. Check the soil, plant type, slope and season, then water deeply enough to reach the root zone without runoff. Drip systems commonly need shorter, more targeted cycles than spray heads, and the controller should be adjusted through the year rather than left on one summer setting.
Do I need a landscaper for drainage problems on a sloped San Bernardino property?
A landscaper with grading and drainage experience can help identify whether the problem is compacted soil, poor slope, blocked runoff or an undersized drainage path. Ask where stormwater will go, how erosion will be controlled and whether the proposal includes testing the system during a strong rain.
