Salt Lake City homeowners can review these 10 landscaping companies for lawn care, irrigation, landscape installation, xeriscaping, maintenance, and snow removal. Hiring one usually starts with a site visit, a written scope, and a clear plan for water, plants, drainage, seasonal upkeep, and winter work. Get the details before signing.

Salt Lake City yards deal with four real seasons, not four mild suggestions. Snow and freeze-thaw cycles can shift edging and pavers, while hot, dry summers put lawns and young trees on a strict irrigation schedule.

Many local properties have alkaline soil, compacted fill, or heavy clay that drains poorly until it suddenly drains too fast through a crack. The Wasatch Front also brings sloped lots, water restrictions, and plenty of leaf, branch, and snow work after the pretty part of the season is over.

A good landscaper should discuss soil preparation, sprinkler coverage, plant hardiness, drainage, and winter service before discussing how the finished yard will look. Pretty is useful. Alive in August is better.

Who are the best landscaping companies in Salt Lake City?

Ordered by Google rating weighted against the number of ratings, so a long record of good work outranks a handful of perfect scores. This is a ranking of public feedback, not an endorsement.

1. Rasmussen Landscapes

4.5 stars from 630 Google reviews.

What customers say:

Absolutely amazing work! Three crew members worked non-stop for hours and completely transformed my yard. They were efficient, detail-oriented, and incredibly hardworking. My yard hasn’t looked this good in years. I’ve tried other landscaping companies before, but none of them give results anywhere close to this. I couldn’t be happier and will definitely use them again. Highly recommended!

M Tsai, 3 months ago

Rasmussen Landscapes is top notch. Marc, the foreman, addressed any concerns we had in a timely matter and was very communicative. Jerry, who helped us with the planning stage, gave great advice and helped make our vision come true. The crews worked fast and efficiently. Very happy with Rasmussen.

CHRISandSHAYE Harger, 10 months ago

Our flowerbeds were full of weeds as we had not taken care of them all spring for a variety of reasons. The crew of 4 men worked 2.5 hours and transformed our yard. They worked very hard and quickly and cleaned up everything before they left.

2. Activescapes Landscaping and Snow Removal

4.9 stars from 196 Google reviews.

What customers say:

If you want the best you hire the best. This is the third and biggest project we have had done by Activescapes. Jackson and every member of his team are patient, honest, professional, and hardworking. I have a high standard and they deliver to perfection every time. On the new job they installed new artificial sod, curbing, new rock landscape, cement walk way and lots of fencing. Before the yard scape they put down weed mat, graded everything out, compacted for the sod and did an exceptional job. They show up on time and answered all my questions. We will be adding some more yard scape and already have them lined up for the next job. Thank you Jackson and team. We love our new yard. Christy

My yard was dirt. Not even an existing sprinkler system. I had multiple bids from some big name companies and was disappointed at how expensive they were. When we received a recommendation for ActiveScapes I was preparing for another high bid. I was incredibly surprised when the bid came back at half of the others. Jackson (the owner) has been incredible to work with and very responsive to any questions or requests I have had. Despite terrible weather the installation was fast and the crew leader (also named Jackson) was super nice and incredibly patient with my 8 year old son who asks more questions than a game of Trivial Pursuit. It’s been exactly one year since the installation. I waited to do this review so I could include some pictures after the plants and trees had established themselves. I receive compliments from my neighbors all the time. Just last week I had one neighbor who lives at the other end of the street next to one entrance tell me that she comes in and out from the far entrance so she can drive past my house to see my yard. I’ve included pictures from various times during the last year. I’ve continued to add a few things here and there so early pictures will differ from later ones but overall, I can’t adequately express in words how grateful I am for Jackson (owner), Jackson (crew leader), and their materials handler Josh. They were all professional, hard working and kind. I highly recommend giving ActiveScapes a call if you have any landscaping needs!

Al M, 6 months ago

We asked for a total overhaul of our yard, front and back. It was a big ask and Activescapes delivered! They refaced the front wall, excavated and built the backyard retaining wall, making the backyard way bigger and more useable than it was. Jackson was excellent in communicating with us the whole time, with schedules, subcontractors, and issues/decisions. They installed drip lines and sprinklers that make maintenance easy. The landscaping, pavers, decking, fencing, and lighting is beautiful! It turned out better than we imagined and they gave us a yard we can finally use and love. 10/10 recommend using them.

3. RedStone Property Maintenance & Landscaping

4.9 stars from 179 Google reviews.

What customers say:

Had a really great experience with Red Stone Landscaping! The crew was super friendly, professional, and easy to work with. They got everything done in just one day, and the yard turned out amazing. You can tell they take pride in their work and pay attention to the details. If you’re looking for a landscaping company that truly cares about quality and customer satisfaction, I highly recommend Red Stone Landscaping. The final results exceeded my expectations, and I will definitely be using them again in the future! They made my little house look like a million dollar house🤏🏼😍

Maria Brandaris, 4 months ago

I reached out to Redstone to take care of a property for me. I needed someone to help take care of my parent’s property. It started with just mowing throughout the summer but now they help me year round. They mow, fertilize, and aerate the lawn and take care of the snow through the winter. I have had no issues and they are always punctual and doing their best job. I can tell they care about their customers and the work they offer. If you’re in Salt Lake County, I would highly recommend for all your maintnence needs. They have very fair prices especially for the service you receive!

Kyle Schmerse, 2 months ago

Zach was wonderful to work with at Redstone. He was patient, responsive and flexible as I shifted the scope of the project several times and ultimately ended up pausing for now. Redstone was professional, offered expertise and feedback, and was understanding when I needed to hold off until I’m able to move forward. If their work on site is a strong as it is preparing, I highly recommend them. I look forward to hopefully connecting with them in the future.

4. Liberty Landscape

5.0 stars from 116 Google reviews.

Liberty Landscape provides licensed and insured landscaping for residential and commercial properties across the Salt Lake Valley. Its services include lawn and shrub care, tree and stump trimming or removal, bulk yard waste removal, and beehive removal.

What customers say:

Liberty Landscape was incredible to work with! We worked directly with the owner, Dalton, on a charity project to help improve housing for Ukrainian Refugee families. One of the houses the families use was in need of a zeroscaped yard to help them afford the cost of water and yard maintenance. Dalton could not have been more generous with his time and resources. He donated countless hours, materials, and labor. He organized the oversaw the whole project up until it was completed. Dalton was personally on the job site numerous times to make sure the job was done correctly. The yard turned out great and the project was a total success! The families couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. The landscaping workmanship was top notch, and this company's commitment to giving back to the community and helping those in need speaks volumes to what an ethical business they truly are.

Ryan Jolley, 4 months ago

Dalton did a big spring cleanup and removed a bunch of old mulch and replaced it with rock. He was communicative, friendly, efficient, and did a very good job. I’m looking forward to having him and his team continue to do my mowing and weeding. Glad I found him.

Caitlin Pennington, 5 months ago

This whole crew was so so sweet and went above and beyond in so many ways. I’m so happy with my new backyard and with the cleanup of my front yard. I specifically picked Liberty Landscape because Dalton just seemed like a guy that really enjoyed his job and I think my final product shows it.

5. Seasons Four Landscape & Maintenance

4.8 stars from 139 Google reviews.

Seasons Four Landscape & Maintenance is a family-run business rooted in Bountiful, Utah, with more than 38 years of history. The company describes its work as a blend of landscape care, creative outdoor improvements, and hands-on craftsmanship, with an emphasis on long-term client and team relationships.

What customers say:

I have worked with seasons four a few times over the last few years. Was recommended them by our landscape designer. Upon meeting with Russ I let him know my expectations, and to say I am very meticulous is an understatement. My rule is if you do something full time you have to be able to do it at least as good as I can. Russ was up for the challenge. Seasons four did some excavation for a shed foundation and pad, full driveway, pavers, steel edging, decomposed granite patios, etc. The thing I valued most was their insights to provide suggestions for things I wasn’t thinking about and how to make it better. And while we had a few hiccups along the way Russ always did whatever it took to make it right. They are good people who want to do good work and people I built friendships with. Was a pleasure working with them and I will work with them again. Also need to credit mi amigo Francisco. He knows his stuff, runs a tight crew, and did some exceptional concrete work. Thanks gents.

Curtis Beyer, 5 months ago

Outstanding Construction Work! Francisco and his crew did an amazing job from start to finish. His work ethic is honestly one of the best I’ve seen—he shows up on time, communicates clearly, and makes sure every detail is done right. The entire team was hardworking, respectful, and efficient, and they completed the job beautifully. I’m genuinely impressed with the quality of the work and how smoothly everything went. Highly recommend Francisco and his crew for anyone looking for dependable, skilled construction professionals!

Michelle Guzman, 5 months ago

I had an amazing experience with this landscaping company! They finished the job right on time and paid attention to every detail. Their team was extremely knowledgeable and helped guide me through the whole process. The communication was excellent from start to finish. Always quick to respond and kept me updated the entire way. Highly recommend! Francisco does a fantastic job and will ensure a job well done. I am more than happy with the crew Russ has working on these projects.

6. AJA Landscaping Services

4.7 stars from 122 Google reviews.

AJA Landscaping Services is a BBB-accredited landscape installation company serving Salt Lake City and communities across the Wasatch Front. The company handles full landscape installations, backyard remodels, and new-construction yards through an in-house team responsible for the design, construction, and finish.

What customers say:

AJA Landscaping completely transformed our backyard and the entire process was a great experience from start to finish. Ashton and his crew tore out all of the old concrete, grass, and excess dirt from the garden beds and installed an entirely new landscape for us. The project included pavers, plants, a retaining wall, and a fully automated sprinkler system, which we absolutely love. Ashton and his crew were professional, respectful, hardworking, and always willing to answer questions throughout the project. You can tell they truly care about the quality of their work and making sure everything is done right. We couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out and would highly recommend Ashton and his team to anyone looking for a landscaping company.

Larry Hernandez, 4 months ago

This was one of the worst contractor experiences we’ve ever had. The project itself was poorly executed, our concrete was damaged during the work, and several details were done carelessly. The final result looked rushed and nowhere near the quality that was promised. The most upsetting part was how Ashton handled the situation when concerns were raised. During the final walkthrough, before we had even finished reviewing the work, he became visibly angry and started demanding payment from my wife instead of listening to the issues we were pointing out. The interaction felt aggressive, unprofessional, and incredibly disrespectful. We were not refusing to pay for completed work. We simply expected the opportunity to finish the walkthrough and discuss the damage and quality concerns first. Rather than taking accountability or trying to resolve anything calmly, Ashton’s attitude completely changed the moment problems were brought up. Based on our experience, I would strongly caution anyone considering hiring this company. Take detailed photos before the project starts, make sure expectations are documented clearly, and do not assume concerns will be handled professionally if something goes wrong.

Cody J., 4 months ago

We hired Ashton and AJA to redesign our front and back yard landscaping and draw up construction plans. The design was supposed to stay within our agreed upon budget of ~$75,000. The plans that were ultimately provided to us were for $184,500, making the entire plan unusable and a waste of nearly 2 months of back-and-forth. There were multiple conversations throughout the design process emphasizing the need to stay within budget and we were assured the entire project was budget-focused. If you decide to hire AJA for landscaping design services, I highly recommend writing into the contract that if the final plans are not within budget, the contract is void and payment is not due.

8. Utah Wildflower Company

4.8 stars from 74 Google reviews.

Utah Wildflower Company helps homeowners build water-wise landscapes suited to Utah's dry climate through native and drought-tolerant plants, xeriscaping, and locally suited materials. Its approach is intended to create colorful, usable yards for families and pets while reducing the need for additional water management.

What customers say:

Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Holladay asked that I look into what we could do to conserve water and lower the maintenance on the land the church occupies. After doing some research on landscaping companies, we found that Wildflower Landscaping Company kept reoccurring on the website as a reliable, professional, honest landscaping company with great reviews! Rod and Robby were friendly, responsive when communicating with them and Rod would get back to me even if it was late in the evening. Rod informed us about Utah Water Savers Slow the Flow rebate and he was exceptionally knowledgeable about the requirements of the program. Because of his understanding of the program and after Church Council approval, we decided to go with Wildflower. The team and all the workers had a strong work ethic, especially in the heat! Products that they used were great as well as planting water wise plants. Their landscape designer was very knowledgeable about all the plants, mulch and did a great job designing the area. Because of the extreme heat, he said that they would replace some plants in the fall that did not make it. Rod kept his word on everything that he said he would do. They provided us the name of the companies where they got their plants and mulch and would follow up with us any time we needed help especially with the irrigation system. We are very happy with the results and are waiting for Utah Water Savers rebate! We feel we got a fair price for the 11,000 square area that was newly landscaped. And because of the new irrigation drip system and waterwise plants, we hope to conserve more water by the third year once the plants have established roots and grown. Go with Wildflower--you will not be disappointed.

Mary Bowman, 2 months ago

I originally hired UWC in 2024 to remove grass, add plants, trees, bark and drip line in my front yard. They suggested using Utah Water Savers program to get reimbursed for removing the grass -- which made our project way more affordable and was glad Rod suggested it. I had them come back in 2025 to add bark and to plant 2 trees. Rod was very responsive and friendly, answering my calls and texts quickly. Communication with the guys who did the work seemed to be a problem and I had multiple calls with Rod to get things straight for both jobs. The work they did seemed easy enough, especially the second time and yet we still had issues. It's been over a year now and I've had some plants thrive while others have had to be replaced for lack or water. This year, we added drip line to multiple plants noticing that a lot of the plants only had ONE emitter on ONE side of the plant, which explains the problem with plants dying or really struggling. The amount of water being given to a lot of my plants was just enough to keep them alive the first year but not enough for all of them to grow and thrive in our dry climate. When we had the drip line installed, I had questioned Rod about the design and he reassured me that it would be sufficient and that the water line from one plant will also water the other side of neighboring plants so that each plant will get water on both sides. However, that could work when the plants are fully grown (and/or not near the sidewalk and driveway) but NOT when they are newly planted and small. THEIR DRIP LINE DESIGN IS SERIOUSLY FLAWED! I emailed Rod about the issue in 2025 and I was told it's normal and due to dry weather. But I don't agree with that. If that were the case, all of my plants would be struggling but the are not. In hindsight, I wish I would have insisted that the drip line be placed AROUND the entire plant and close enough to each plant in consideration of the 4-6 gallon size.

Holly Weaber, 6 months ago

We had a fantastic experience with Utah Wildflower Company. We used Utah Wildflower for a complete backyard renovation--everything from the design through the build and the planting. Even though our space is small, which meant our project was relatively modest, we received great service throughout the entire process. Everyone we worked with from beginning to end was friendly, professional, and extremely responsive. The staff who built our beautiful flagstone pathway & patio worked incredibly hard and we look forward to enjoying their work for many years to come. And we got all of this at a very reasonable price. Another plus is that Utah Wildflower directed us to Utah Water Savers and helped us meet their requirements, so we'll be getting some cost relief from the city. We'd use Utah Wildflower again in a heartbeat. Thank you Rod, KJ, Manuel, and everyone who worked on our project!

9. Landscape Solutions Inc

4.3 stars from 118 Google reviews.

Landscape Solutions Inc is a locally owned Salt Lake City company that began with snow removal in 1972 and added landscape maintenance and installation in 1995. The medium-sized business assigns clients a dedicated contact and has account managers conduct monthly site audits and evaluations.

What customers say:

I have had a very positive experience with Landscape Solutions from start. Their customer service truly stands out, they are responsive, professional, and the team made sure every detail was handled with care. I am a very particular person; Victor Camargo could see my vision. Victor, Israel, Josue, Geoff and Efren always take the time to answer all my questions, recommendations, and keeps me updated throughout the entire process. It’s rare to find a company that combines strong communication and knowledge. The Landscape Solution team are very respectful and very hard workers! They go above and beyond to ensure the result exceeded my expectations (yes, they moved plants numerous times). I highly recommend Landscape Solutions to anyone looking for reliable service, a team that truly values its customers and takes pride in their work.

Mike my account manager has always been awesome to take the time to explain certain processes if needed. Also takes the time to come out and visually see what I am trying to achieve or if I have concerns. One of the few companies that I have dealt with that tries to help the client out the best way possible. I work for a company that has done an honest business for over 60 years in SLC and I appreciate being treated like we treat others. Mike has taken the time to listen and also build a good business relationship with me and understands what my concerns and needs are. I have made a great portfolio of these contractors that I can trust and call on when needed and glad to say Mike with Landscape Solutions is one of them.

Theresa McCutcheon, 5 months ago

Our HOA has used Landscape Solutions for several years and is very pleased with their service and responsiveness. This past month the crew of Manuel, Bernardo, and Javier completed a very physically challenging xeriscape project of removing sod and installing fabric, rock, and mulch at the entrance of our community, with boulders, and then refreshing the mulch on 59 properties over several days. Their attention to detail, no-quit attitudes, and conscientiousness in remembering to return to finish properties--excellent; our residents appreciated it very much. Thank you account manager, Ulises, for coordinating this all, and for your communications to us constantly. LS is a company we can count on.

10. Brothers Property Landscaping LLP

5.0 stars from 50 Google reviews.

What customers say:

Mike and his brothers have done both our front yard and backyard and they’ve done an amazing job with both. We will definitely be having them do a few more projects around the house! Would highly recommend anyone to hire them for any landscaping needs.

Christian Hebert, 6 months ago

Mike was awesome to work with. We redid our small backyard and somehow managed to fit in the things we wanted: A cement pad basketball area, 3ft tall garden boxes, a cement area for a seasonal above ground pool or seating area and enough grass to play four square volleyball. And not pictured is also a dog potty area with rocks on the side of the house and an expanded driveway in the front. Mike was very patient with me and me changing and adding to the project. He and his awesome crew did such a fantastic professional job. They leveled our lawn into 2 sections for us, took out the existing retaining wall/flower bed that the dogs loved to dig in. Built a new retaining wall against the fence and dividing the basketball area from the patio and grass area and garden. Poured cement for the basketball area and assembled and installed the basketball hoop and the tall poles and the netting to keep the balls from going into our neighbors yards. Took down our patio roof (it blocked the light and made our house too dark, and took up way too much of the yard), cut the existing red stamped cement to be curvy and give us more lawn. Poured and stamped more red cement up the side for where the above ground pool goes/ and seating. Laid new sprinklers and new sod, ran water to the garden boxes to be on a timer. Helped us with getting the timing down for the sprinklers. Also laid down cement blocks to make a level floor for our tall new small shed on the side of our house. Seriously Mike and his crew were always so so kind, polite and SO HARD WORKING! They obviously take pride in their work and do their very best. They were easy to communicate with and truly wanted us happy with our new backyard! Oh and they also poured more cement to expand our driveway since our oldest was turning 16. I highly recommend Mike and his fabulous crew! Great fair pricing, awesome communication, kind and hard working and honest.

Mike and his team did an amazing job on my backyard remodel! His design he put together for me was spot on with what I had in mind. Mike and his team are proficient, professional, and excellent at their craftsmanship! They completed the project well within the timeframe we discussed. Highly recommended for landscaping needs!

How do you choose a landscaper in Salt Lake City?

Start by deciding whether the project is routine maintenance, a repair, a new planting bed, a full yard installation, or seasonal snow work. Those are different jobs with different equipment, schedules, and contracts.

Ask each company how it handles Salt Lake City soil, irrigation audits, drainage, freeze-thaw movement, and plant selection for hot summers and cold winters. For a water-wise yard, ask for the plant list and expected irrigation needs rather than accepting a broad promise about saving water.

Get a written scope that identifies the work area, materials, grading, irrigation changes, cleanup, maintenance responsibilities, and payment schedule. If snow removal is part of the agreement, confirm trigger depth, service timing, sidewalks, deicing materials, and what happens during a long storm.

Project need Questions to ask Details to confirm
Lawn and shrub care What visits are included? Mowing, pruning, fertilizing, cleanup, and seasonal timing
Irrigation Will the system be tested or redesigned? Broken heads, coverage, controller settings, and water use
New landscape installation Who handles grading and soil preparation? Drainage, topsoil, plants, hardscape, warranty, and cleanup
Xeriscaping Which plants and materials are proposed? Native or adapted species, mulch, rock, and establishment watering
Snow removal What starts service during a storm? Trigger depth, routes, sidewalks, hauling, and ice treatment

Do not choose from a sketch alone. Walk the property with the contractor, point out standing water and bare lawn, and make sure the final plan matches what the crew is actually expected to build.

Frequently asked questions

How much does landscaping cost in Salt Lake City?

The price depends on whether the job is maintenance, irrigation repair, planting, xeriscaping, hardscaping, or a full installation. Ask for a written estimate that separates labor, materials, grading, irrigation, cleanup, and ongoing service rather than accepting one lump figure.

What plants grow well in Salt Lake City?

Choose plants rated for cold winters, dry summers, alkaline soil, and the amount of sun on the property. Native and drought-tolerant plants can reduce irrigation demand, but new plants still need consistent watering during establishment, especially in July and August.

Do Salt Lake City landscapers provide snow removal?

Some do, and the directory includes companies whose services cover snow removal or seasonal property work. Before hiring, ask about the service trigger, arrival timing, sidewalks, deicing, snow storage, hauling, and whether the agreement covers the entire winter or individual storms.

When should I install a landscape in Salt Lake City?

Spring and fall are generally useful planting windows, but the right timing depends on soil conditions, frost, plant type, and the project scope. Hardscape, grading, irrigation, and large installations may require a longer schedule, so confirm the sequence before work begins.
