Homeowners in Reno, Nevada should look to local landscaping companies with experience in the high desert climate. Hiring a pro means getting help with everything from drought-tough yards to outdoor living spaces, and knowing the plants and materials that can handle Reno’s wild temperature swings and dry spells.

Reno sits in the high desert, where yards face hot, dry summers and cold, snowy winters. Lawns can struggle with water restrictions, and alkaline soils can make even the toughest plants picky. You see a lot of rock, a lot of mulch, and a lot of trial and error.

If you want a green patch that survives August or a patio that stands up to February freezes, you need a landscaper who understands this climate. The right company can help you pick plants that actually thrive here, design for water savings, and build outdoor spaces that work year-round.

Who are the best landscaping companies in Reno?

Ordered by Google rating weighted against the number of ratings, so a long record of good work outranks a handful of perfect scores. This is a ranking of public feedback, not an endorsement.

1. Cory's Lawn Service

4.7 stars from 877 Google reviews.

Cory's Lawn Service started in 2006 when its founder began mowing lawns for neighbors in a local retirement community. They have grown into a trusted lawn care team in the Reno and Sparks area, focusing on reliability and doing the job right for their clients.

What customers say:

Contacted Cory's Lawn Service to have my lawn aerated this spring. They had great communication and an easy to use website. They only gave me a general idea of how long it would be till they got to my lawn, but I got a specific date when it got closer. I believe it took about two or three weeks before they could fit me in for aeration. I'd definitely work with them again.

I watched Bruce on our CAMERA do our front. We have used CORY’S a handful of times now and have struggled getting our weeds under control. I must say, Cory has been EXTREMELY kind and helpful in explaining the entire process. Watching Bruce, however, he did not spray around the edges and up close to the house where we have had such problems, that my husband has had to spray himself. He sprayed basically down the center of the rocks. This may be normal, I don’t know. I have sent a text asking. As for the Company I definitely recommend using them. Thanks, Barb

Barbara Olinger, 2 months ago

We’ve been using Corey’s for years. For all the services they offer. They’re always willing to work with our schedule and when asked, they will give me a heads up when they’re on their way to be sure our dog is inside. Last week Matthias went above and beyond to allow me to run home when I had a bit of a hiccup with my schedule! Thanks again for your patience, kindness and understanding Matthias! Much appreciated

2. Tailored Lawn Care, LLC

4.9 stars from 315 Google reviews.

What customers say:

I am so late on this review but last September we had Tailored Lawn Care landscape our front and backyard. They did AMAZING work! We got way more bang for our buck. We loved their work so much that they’ve been maintaining our yard since with today being a Spring cleanup. Every single person I have come into contact with at Tailored Lawn Care has been incredibly hard working and friendly. It’s obvious they all take great pride in their work. I cannot recommend this company enough!

Jerrod Jones, 5 months ago

We are so extremely pleased with TLC. They really care about their clients and their crew is so efficient and friendly. Jennifer was our main contact throughout a back yard revision and counseled us on several recommendations for shrubs, plants, and rock. She was easy to work with and our lawn turned out better than we imagined. She also followed up on the job by stopping by after it's completion to check the lawn's and new plants' progress. We've liked TLC so much that we've signed up for several other services they offer, feeling we can completely turn over the care of our lawns to this wonderful company. If you are looking to upgrade your landscaping or maintenance needs, we highly recommend Tailored Lawn Care!

Deb Terry, a month ago

3. J and J Landscaping

J and J Landscaping has not provided an About description.

What customers say:

Juan and his team were excellent! They communicated well throughout the project to make our vision come to life. Very professional, punctual and efficient; completing the project before our expected deadline… extra bonus! Juan has a great eye for how things should be laid out. There is depth, contrast and continuity. We couldn’t happier with the end result! Highly recommended.

Allison Crookston, a month ago

We love Juan and his team at J&J! We originally hired him to fix a botched landscaping job by a previous contractor at our old house. We found him through the neighbors app with a lot of recommendations and contacted him for a quote. He was super quick to respond and knew right away what he needed to fix our yard and his pricing was fair so we decided to give him a chance and we’re glad we did! We were so impressed with his communication, workmanship and dedication that we didn’t even shop around for another contractor when we moved into our new house. He came out and we walked through what we were envisioning for our new yard. He gave recommendations and added nice touches I hadn’t even thought of. He even fixed a miscommunication no questions asked and rebuilt an entire new planter box for me. He responds so quickly over text or call, and will show up day and night to fix a busted drip or whatever you need. He checks all the work himself and makes sure his guys are all on point. Everyone in his crew is super nice and hardworking. Our family likes their work so much they have now contacted Juan for their own yards and we’ve gotten lots of compliments from our neighbors. Seriously, Juan and his team are the best!

K C, 3 months ago

Contacted J and J Landscaping after a referral from a neighbor. Juan was very friendly, knowledgable, and easy to work with. He worked within our budget and made sure that we were still able to achieve our vision. His work is guaranteed for a year and Juan was quick to help resolve any issues that came up afterward. We got the special synthetic turf for pets and was quickly approved by our dog 👍

4. Little City Landscape

4.9 stars from 103 Google reviews.

Little City Landscape has served Reno and Sparks since 1981, creating landscapes that inspire. They focus on outdoor spaces that thrive in Northern Nevada’s unique climate, bringing a deep understanding of local conditions and design trends to every project.

What customers say:

Little City positively transformed the front yard of our organization! Their knowledge of the right plants to resist bugs, repairing our drip, removing pavers that were a tripping hazard and installing gorgeous blooms for color, they understood not just landscaping and design, but the feeling of peace we want our clients at our nonprofit to feel. We’re so grateful to Little City for their generosity and great eye! Not at ALL your average landscaping company, Kirk and Brandon really care.

Nicku Bruce, a month ago

I wanted a xeriscaped front yard that evoked the desert, with native plants and a rugged, natural feel. Other landscape designers imagined a rock yard with islands of suburban shrubbery and dots of ornamental grass. But Kirk of Little City got it. In a matter of minutes he sketched out a scene of boulders and stone, with sweeps of vegetation in some areas and accent plants in others. Where a flat grass yard existed, he saw an undulating desert terrain in colors of black, mocha, copper, and tan. The plants I wanted aren't readily available in the Reno area, but we put together an eye-catching array including red yucca, Apache plume, orange globemallow, desert primrose, desert sage, and pink Muhly grass. The project started late on a Thursday afternoon in May and was finished in less than a week, including a paved walkway to the back yard and an expanded paved patio replacing a small concrete stoop. Brandon, the foreman, placed the plants with a practiced eye. An energetic and talented crew of four excavated, shaped, installed irrigation, planted, and hauled many wheelbarrow loads of rock. On the last day, they swept and hosed down the sidewalk and street, leaving the area pristine. I am beyond satisfied; I am ecstatic. Thanks, Kirk, Brandon, and crew for your talent and skill. I look forward to seeing those plants grow and complete the vision.

Christine Doolittle, 3 months ago

Little City Landscape just finished working on my front yard and it looks better than I could’ve imagined. Brandon and the team are so incredibly talented. I never thought my front yard could look as beautiful as it does now. Not only was the landscaping exceptional, but the customer service at Little City made this entire process easy. I can’t recommend this company enough. It’s hard to imagine the photos I added are the same yard that was flat and covered in weeds just two days earlier.

What customers say:

I had Patrick clear two very large and overgrown yards and he did an excellent job. The project was a bit big to take on but Pat handled it and provided a yard ready for planting. Thanks again

Jim Vincent, a year ago

I highly recommend this company. The communication was clear, and the responsiveness stood out. The pricing was reasonable, and the quality of work was truly impressive. My yard looks significantly better, and now I can access areas that were previously overgrown with weeds. I'm genuinely satisfied and will choose this company for my future yard needs.

Linsey S, 2 years ago

Patrick did a great job helping me clean up some weeds and brush in my backyard. I really appreciate how hard he works and that he was willing to be flexible with the pricing to ensure the cost was within our tight budge, yet was still enough to work for him… He is a one man operation and knocked it out way faster than a crew of 2 or 3 would have. I ended up giving him some extra cash just because of how impressed I was with his work ethic. I will be hiring him again when we need his help next time. Thanks, Patrick!

6. All Around Town Landscaping

4.8 stars from 97 Google reviews.

All Around Town Landscaping helps clients increase their home value and beauty by designing elegant outdoor living spaces. They blend seasonal color, perennials, and landscaping with ongoing maintenance, aiming for complete customer satisfaction on every project.

What customers say:

Perry and Shawn's team did an excellent job transforming our hilly yard with horrible drainage into a very useable space for entertaining. They did extensive retaining walls while extending our driveway, creating rv parking space, a gazebo and fire pit area, two turf play areas and extended our existing patio. It was expensive but well worth it. Their initial bid was very accurate (we had plans ready before the bid, so we did not have a lot of add ons). Their prices were were comparable to other bids we received and were executed with precision. They are very popular so you need to make a deposit to get on their list. You also need to pick out the plants for them to install (we wanted to do this anyway). Their workers worked hard every day even in high heat. It seemed like they did a month of work in a couple of weeks!

Eric Romerdahl, a month ago

All Around Town Landscaping did a fantastic job at our home in Sparks. Perry & Shawn were great throughout the process, from quote to install. They were extremely helpful in completing the necessary HOA paperwork and were able to guide us to approval. The team that showed up every day was prompt, professional and cleaned up the jobsite each day. The total project (front & back yards) took about 7 business days which was amazing considering we started with nothing but dirt in the backyard. We're thrilled with the results and look forward to enjoying the yards throughout all seasons.

Christina Galea, 5 months ago

All Around Town Landscaping did an absolutely amazing job on my backyard!. The entire project was completed in just 1½ days, which was incredibly impressive given the quality and attention to detail. On top of that, doing business with Mr. Perry was a great experience—he was professional, communicative, and made the whole process smooth and stress-free. I couldn’t be happier with the results!!!

7. DRC Landscaping

4.9 stars from 82 Google reviews.

DRC Landscaping is known for being respectful and receptive throughout every project. They accommodate changes easily and work closely with clients from the first consult to completion, focusing on delivering results that exceed expectations.

What customers say:

While we had a usable back yard, it did not really serve the purpose(s) we were hoping for. We spoke with multiple landscaping companies and got a variety of estimates. We decided to work with DRC Landscaping. I am not very good at visualizing projects or explaining my objectives, but Tracie and Danny were able to make sense of our goals/objectives. They were also the only company to come out and present a drawing and itemized price list so we could SEE the vision and understand exactly where our money would be going. Seeing it drawn out helped soooo much! Our overall goals were low maintenance, usable, and safe for my elderly mother-in-law to navigate. Several times, we reached out to make last-minute changes and never once did they make us feel like an inconvenience or that our new ideas weren't possible. Luis oversaw the execution of the plans. He and his team were phenomenal, kind, clean, and quick! Communication was great! One day, we asked, "Would it be possible to do...?" and literally the next day it was done-we had an additional pathway added to connect the shed to the main pathway. We couldn't be happier with our new back yard. It may appear simple, but it's exactly what we wanted...and more!

DRC Landscape planner, Bella, created a beautiful outdoor living space for our front and backyards. My wife and friends enjoying spending time outside in our yard. The staff who worked on putting together our yards worked very hard and understood our needs. Highly recommend DRC for your landscaping needs.

R Morales, 5 months ago

We worked with DRC Landscaping late summer/early fall for a total overhaul of our front yard. I can't speak highly enough of Tracie and her team. They were amazing from start to finish-and after! They designed a water-efficient yard for us removing all grass, completely redoing all of our ancient irrigation, AND did it working around the SNC construction going on on our entire street. The communication was outstanding through the whole project. Everyone involved was responsive, professional, and the follow-up has been more than we could have asked for. Even after completion, the DRC team has come back- without us asking- to place more rocks and to winterize the irrigation. AND they came in under our original budget. We're so impressed. We love our yard and their work. Highly recommend.

They provided the best value for my landscaping project which was mostly dirt work with drainage and decrative rock. They also removed sod in my front yard and installed artificial grass. Everything looks great! My favorite part of dealing with them has been their communication and overall customer service. For being one of the bigger operations in our area, they treat you better than expected. They follow up on every detail. They return your calls promptly. They give you your monies worth. I appreciate that kind of service and gladly tell my friends about them.

John Roscoe, 5 months ago

My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Kristi and the crew from Reno Green on our new build. Reno Green landscaped our front and back yard from scratch. Kristi is very knowledgeable and helpful and gave great suggestions on items we wanted to substitute. The staff is very hard working and detail oriented. Everyone was on-time and communication was fantastic. Kristi always followed up to make sure we were happy with the progress of the project. I would highly recommend Reno Green for any landscaping project. Looking forward to seeing it in full bloom!

9. Moana Nursery Landscape Services

4.5 stars from 84 Google reviews.

Moana Nursery Landscape Services offers a wide selection of bird food, feeders, and accessories at their garden center nurseries. Their Wild Birds Unlimited shops help homeowners create a backyard paradise for a variety of local birds with unique products and expert advice.

What customers say:

I went there to pick out a tree to plant in my front yard. They have trees suitable for our zone and they know the climate. Linda was very helpful and knowledgeable. They have a one year warranty on their trees. You can get a discount if you sign up for their list. I got all the materials (soil builder and fertilizer) and instruction I needed to do the job properly. They also have instructional videos on YouTube. Linda and Kyle loaded the tree to our car and even offered a plastic cover to protect our car, although we had brought our tarp so it was unnecessary. They don't just sell trees. They truly think through the whole process and provide assistance along the way.

S. Park, a year ago

Very helpful local nursery. Knowledgeable staff and if they don't know they will find someone else on staff to help you.

Linda Allen, 5 months ago

We went looking for hedges for a privacy screen. There are so many, we had a hard time choosing. Thankfully, Moana has some great employees. We had a wonderful woman named Judy and wound up selecting a total of 7 varieties. Thank you Moana nursery. We are also having the nursery plant them for us!

10. Jefes Landscaping Reno -Sparks

4.6 stars from 71 Google reviews.

Jefes Landscaping Reno - Sparks guides clients from vision to installation, starting with a design meeting and budget review. Their landscape engineer creates 2D and 3D renderings, and after revisions, their construction team installs the custom design efficiently so clients can enjoy their new outdoor space.

What customers say:

We recently moved into a new home and our backyard was literally just rock and dirt — a completely blank slate. Working with Jefes Landscaping was the best decision we could have made. From the beginning, they took the time to really listen to what we wanted and helped bring our vision to life step by step. The 3D rendering they provided was incredibly helpful and gave us confidence in the design before any work started. Their team was very hands-on throughout the process, always respectful of our space, and made sure everything was cleaned up at the end of each day. Watching them turn an empty yard into a beautiful, finished backyard was amazing. The final result is fabulous, and we couldn’t be happier. Highly recommend! Ow we just need to get the jacuzzi and fire pit!

Anne Driscoll, 8 months ago

I couldn’t be happier with our new pavered backyard! From start to finish, this company was professional, reliable, and detail-oriented. The crew showed up on time every day, communicated clearly throughout the project, and treated our property with care. The craftsmanship is outstanding—the pavers are beautifully laid, level, and completely transformed our outdoor space. The project was completed on schedule and exactly as promised. We’ve already received so many compliments and would absolutely recommend this company to anyone looking for high-quality work and a stress-free experience.

Allie Marchant, 8 months ago

I hired them for driveway landscaping and path paving and I’m blown away. The landscape design tied everything together beautifully blending desert landscaping with modern hardscaping. The concrete masonry is top notch smooth durable and perfectly sloped for drainage. They also handled garden decorating with tasteful boulders and drought tolerant plants. Best of all the quoted price included labor and materials no hidden fees.

How do you choose a landscaper in Reno?

Not every landscaper knows how to handle Reno’s climate. Ask what kinds of plants they recommend, and how they design for water savings. Check if they have experience with drip irrigation, native plants, and soil amendments for alkaline ground. Good landscapers will talk about maintenance too, not just installation. If you want a low-water yard, say so up front.
