6 Landscaping Companies in Port St. Lucie, Florida
Compare six Port St. Lucie landscaping companies and learn what to ask about turf, irrigation, drainage, pruning, and storm preparation

Port St. Lucie homeowners should choose a licensed, insured landscaper with Florida experience and a clear plan for irrigation, drainage, pruning, and storm cleanup. Hiring one means comparing site visits, written scopes, plant choices, maintenance needs, and ongoing costs, not simply booking the lowest mowing price.
Port St. Lucie yards live in heat, humidity, salt air, and sudden downpours. Sandy soil can drain fast, but compacted fill and low spots still hold water after a storm. That is a tricky little dance for grass and palms.
St. Augustine grass, palms, hedges, and tropical plantings need steady care here. So do irrigation systems, especially after summer rain or a hurricane season that rearranges the whole yard.
A good landscaper should notice more than overgrown grass. They should look at drainage, sun, soil, tree clearance, irrigation coverage, and the plants that will still look decent after August has had its way with everything.
Who are the best landscaping companies in Port St. Lucie?
Ordered by Google rating weighted against the number of ratings, so a long record of good work outranks a handful of perfect scores. This is a ranking of public feedback, not an endorsement.

We hired J&J Lawn & Landscape to re do our entire yard and could not be happier. Joe came out and worked with us in 2 phases for the border/rock/ pavers to be installed first and then to re grade the entire property and remove the bahia I95 grass that came with the house. We went with Floratam per his recommendation. Everything came out amazing we get compliments from everyone that drives and walks by. Phase 1 only took 1 day and phase 2 as well. These were the hardest working guys I have hired since we moved to the area. On phase 2 they worked until way after dark to finish. Highly recommend this company for all landscaping needs. Thank you guys for everything!

We had a small jungle in our back yard. It was outta control. Due to health issues we couldn't keep up. I reached out to J & J Landcape and they showed up like an army... it was a big job for such a small property. All hands, equipment on deck. So professional and worked their butts off in 90+ heat. All I can say it was money well spent to get our backyard back. We would recommend this company! Thank you for saving us!!! Awesome company!!

Couldn’t be happier with their service! After my yard was torn up a few months back from a septic install, J&J came in, removed leftover pavers, laid new grass, and cleaned up all the overgrown weeds around my pool. It honestly looks like a whole new place. Great pricing, easy to work with, and super accommodating. I’ll definitely be using them again! Highly recommend!

What customers say:
I’m so happy I found this company. They installed two beautiful Myrtle Crape trees. One in the front and one in the back of my home. The trees are so full and pretty and they haven’t even bloomed yet. Can’t wait for that. They were so professional from the beginning (communication with the office, initial visit to my home for the quote, scheduling of the trees/installation) to the end of the project. The clean up was top notch. I will definitely be using them again and definitely recommend. Thank you, CM Gatling Landscaping! I’ll be in touch soon with another project. 😊 M. Mateo

Honest. On time. Professional. No BS. Quality work. That sums up the job that Lawnscapes of S Florida performed at my house today. Received a quote for 3 sabal palms to be trimmed. Price was very competitive to previous quotes/work that I’ve had done in previous years. The trees look amazing. They cleaned up after they trimmed like you would never even known they were there. They were on time and very professional and respectful of property the whole time. Thanks for taking care of my trees!

I have used Lawnscapes of South Florida for over 16 years. Since 2009. I love the way I can communicate with them and the way they take care of my lawn, is efficient. Also fast and thorough. I have two lots with a lot of trimming from all my trees and bushes. For me to maintain my lawn alone would take me 4 hours. Shari the owner and Toni , is an expert at trimming and cutting down trees. He noses work all the way down to the stump grinding Everybody knows there business and are wonderful people. So I take this opportunity to say thank you.

How do you choose a landscaper in Port St. Lucie?
Start with the work, not the logo. A mowing visit is one thing. Redesigning a drainage problem, pruning a mature palm, replacing turf, or preparing a yard for storm season takes a different set of tools and skills.
Ask for a site visit and a written scope. The scope should say what gets done, how often, which materials are included, and what happens to green waste. If irrigation is part of the job, ask whether the company will check broken heads, overspray, coverage, and the timer settings.
Port St. Lucie has plenty of sandy ground, but not every yard drains beautifully. Walk the property after rain if you can. Look for standing water, thin turf, leaning trees, exposed roots, and beds that dry out before the grass does. Those clues are more useful than a glossy promise.
| Project need | Questions to ask | Cost or care trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Routine lawn care | What does each visit include, and how are clippings handled? | Frequent service keeps things tidy but becomes a recurring expense. |
| New planting beds | Which plants suit the sun, salt exposure, and soil? | Tougher plants may cost more at first and usually save water later. |
| Irrigation work | Will coverage, leaks, timers, and overspray be checked? | Efficient irrigation can reduce waste, but repairs add to the initial bill. |
| Tree or palm work | Who handles pruning, hauling, and storm-related cleanup? | Larger trees require more labor, equipment, and safety planning. |
| Drainage concerns | Will the company identify where water collects before suggesting a fix? | Drainage work can involve digging and materials, not just a quick surface treatment. |
Get at least a few written estimates for larger projects. Compare the scope line by line. A cheaper number may leave out soil preparation, hauling, irrigation adjustments, or follow-up visits, and that is where the surprise bill likes to hide.
Also ask about proof of insurance, payment timing, cancellation terms, plant replacement policies, and communication during heavy weather. Read recent local feedback with a sensible eye. No company has a perfect season, but repeated complaints about missed visits or unclear billing deserve attention.
Frequently asked questions
How much does landscaping cost in Port St. Lucie?
The price depends on the size of the yard, the type of work, plant and soil needs, irrigation repairs, tree access, and how often service is scheduled. Ask for a written estimate that separates recurring maintenance from one-time work.
What grass grows best in Port St. Lucie?
St. Augustine is common in South Florida yards, while some homeowners use other warm-season turf suited to their light and irrigation conditions. The right choice depends on sun, drainage, foot traffic, salt exposure, and how much water the property can support.
How often should a Port St. Lucie lawn be mowed?
Warm-season grass usually needs more frequent mowing during active growth and less during cooler weather. A landscaper should adjust the schedule to the grass height, rainfall, irrigation, and local rules rather than cutting on autopilot.
Should a landscaper check my irrigation system?
Yes, especially if you see dry patches, soggy areas, runoff, algae, broken heads, or plants declining near a sprinkler zone. An irrigation check can reveal poor coverage, leaks, overspray, or a timer schedule that wastes water.
