If you’re in Nashville and your yard needs real help, these are the top 10 landscaping companies to call. Hiring a landscaper here often means tackling clay soil, summer heat, and drainage issues. Expect a consult, a plan, and a crew that knows Middle Tennessee’s quirks. Good pros make the difference.

Nashville yards are a story of two extremes. You get sticky red clay that holds water until it doesn’t, then bakes hard as a brick in July. Spring storms can flood a low spot overnight, but by August, the grass is begging for rain. If you’re new here, the wild swings between soggy and bone dry might surprise you.

The city’s growing fast, and so are the expectations for curb appeal. From East Nashville bungalows to Belle Meade estates, everyone wants a yard that looks good year-round. That means picking plants that can take a Tennessee summer, and maybe a February freeze too. A good landscaper here knows how to work with what you’ve got, and what this climate throws at you.

Who are the best landscaping companies in Nashville?

Ordered by Google rating weighted against the number of ratings, so a long record of good work outranks a handful of perfect scores. This is a ranking of public feedback, not an endorsement.

1. Gardens of Babylon Landscapes

4.8 stars from 708 Google reviews.

Gardens of Babylon Landscapes offers plant health checks shortly after large planting projects, with experts evaluating plant health, soil moisture, and pests. Clients can get extended warranties by signing up for their full-service maintenance packages, and hardscape warranties are also available. Their maintenance consultants reach out after installation to discuss ongoing care options.

What customers say:

I’ve now been to Botanical Bingo twice with Gardens of Babylon at Garage Sale Vintage in East Nashville, and it has been such a fun experience every single time. Neil O’Neil brings so much energy, personality, and genuine joy to the event that he somehow makes bingo and plant time the perfect combination. One of my favorite parts is that it really feels like a community event. There’s even been a couple of times where a kid helped call the bingo numbers, which makes the whole night even more fun and memorable. Also, special thanks to “Vanna Black” for helping pass out plants during last night’s bingo session. She understood the assignment. I’ve also attended one of the veggie workshops through Gardens of Babylon, and it’s clear that Neil is not only incredibly knowledgeable about plants, but also just a really personable and welcoming human being. If you ever get the chance, definitely visit Gardens of Babylon at the Nashville Farmers Market on Rosa Parks. Their space is beautiful, they offer classes where you can actually learn something useful, and they host events that are just plain fun. Highly recommend supporting this business. And when you go, ask for Neil. Also, check out his music too!

Stopped by Gardens of Babylon at the downtown Nashville Farmers’ Market and picked up a pink princess philodendron and some bamboo stakes to prop up plants at home. The garden center has a variety of indoor houseplants, unique pottery, and thoughtfully curated home goods, perfect spot if you’re looking for something beyond the typical big box store offerings.

Eugene Chang, 6 months ago

I worked with June to design a small space in front of my house, and she did a great job. The crew showed up and did a great job, too. It wasn't easy because the space had to be prepared for the plantings. Eric was the project manager, and he was attentive, way knowledgeable, and completely communicative. I appreciate June, Eric, and the crew for all they did. And the bed looks awesome. Thank you! I highly recommend!

2. Park View Lawn Care and Landscape

4.8 stars from 158 Google reviews.

What customers say:

They completely leveled my wild flower garden that was mulched and had flowers growing at least a foot tall. Now it is leveled (see picture). They also didn’t even get all the actual weeds, left the gate open so they dogs almost got out, blew everything on our porch over with a leaf blower, and dropped a bunch of stuff that should have been in a brush pile just on our drive way for us to pick up the pieces when we got home from work. I cannot even expressed how hurt and devastated I am about my flowers that were starting to grow so beautifully. They will not be seeing my yard again. Ever.

Liz Hall, 2 months ago

I was in a rental Oct 2024 and I started using Parkview from May 2025 - end of Oct. 2025 when I moved. They were good at mowing the lawn. It was hard communicating with them since it has to be done through text. I wanted more things done to the yard but couldn't get it set up so I just left it at mowing only and when that happened they did a good job. It was reasonably priced as well.

__, 9 months ago

We recently did some construction and have needed some serious help re-growing our lawn. Parkview re-seeded for a reasonable price and provided us with very detailed after care instructions. Their team is always quick and efficient and gets the lawn cuts/cleanup done without being too disruptive to our workday!

Wonderful service! Easy to schedule and pay and my yard always looks great. My technician takes great care and does a beautiful job every time.

Terri Brady, a month ago

What more could you ask for? Professional service, very fair prices all from the convenience of my phone! You can start, stop schedule and change your service as needed! I used this service for the year that I rented a house, never let me down, place always looked great! 5/5 would definitely recommend.

Darrell Higgins, a month ago

Unprofessional and Unreliable I hired LawnStarter for a lawn mowing and estimate on Sunday, July 19th. The pro assigned, RemaVail Pro Lawn, was 1.5 hours late. When they finally arrived, they refused to complete the mow because the grass was too long, even though an overgrown lawn was the exact reason I booked the service. The job was then rescheduled to Monday, July 20th for 4:00 PM. No one showed up. I waited over 4 hours and reached out for an update. I was told the work would be completed before nightfall, but no one ever came and the job was not completed. The lack of communication, constant delays, and broken promises were extremely frustrating. I organized my schedule around two separate appointments that were not honored. Unfortunately, this experience left me with a very poor impression of LawnStarter's professionalism, reliability, and contractor communication. I would not recommend this service if you need work done on time.

What customers say:

We have been long time clients of the Greathouse Company. They always deliver on keeping our yard tidy and beautiful week to week. We have been very pleased also working with them on larger scale landscape planning and installations. Everyone I’ve worked with at the company is knowledgable, very kind, and they clearly have a passion for and pride in their work. They’ve really built a wonderful team! Where I truly was blown away was this week during Nashville’s devastating ice storm. Our account manager, Debbie, (who has always gone above and beyond for us and I’m so grateful to partner with her!!) texted me the morning all of nashville woke up to trees down and no power asking about the status of our trees and yard. I gave her the update and she immediately put in a request for clean up. We were away without power for almost 6 days but when we returned we not only returned to a warm house but the aftermath outside had already been taken care of by the hardworking Greathouse team. We will be forever grateful for their care and swift response in a time of great need. Many thanks today and always!!

Ashley Brockman, 6 months ago

We had Greathouse install a backyard landscape design that we sourced online. They were incredible. I'd work with them again in a minute. They were responsive and flexible and they did what they said they'd do. They worked with me on price to get the design I wanted at a price I could live with. It was worth every penny. I can't recommend them enough!

Bobby and crew at New Beginnings literally gave us our dream backyard. We had high expectations and they blew those out of the water. He came out multiple times to check on the progress and make sure we were pleased. I cannot say thank you enough to New Beginnings and the work they did. We will enjoy this for years to come.

Josh Lindsey, 6 years ago

We had a fantastic experience with New Beginnings. We wanted a modern hardscape backyard paradise. McKenzie understood our vision and came up with the perfect design. We had to make some changes to the design due to local codes and McKenzie was quick to make the revisions. Brandon, Jay and crew were great to work with and very eager to make everything look perfect! This is an honest and reliable company that I would recommend using. We are thrilled with the design and quality of the stone walk JML Landscape Management installed this Spring. Josh took the time to learn what we wanted and clearly explained how the project would unfold. If you are looking for a knowledgable and dependable company for landscaping your home this is the company. You will not be disappointed. They have more than exceeded my dream garden walkway. Love, love, love.

Jane Callery, 2 months ago

Josh and his crew did an amazing job with the landscaping at our home!! He helped us out so much with his suggestions of trees and plants that will hopefully bring us many, many seasons of all kinds of color to the yard. The lighting he also installed was the perfect “cherry on top!!” It looks incredible, and makes our home stand out in the neighborhood. Thanks so much Taylor and the boys for all your hard work digging into our ridiculously rocky soil. Highly recommend JML Landscape Management if you’re looking for a top quality installation.

How do you choose a landscaper in Nashville?

Choosing a landscaper in Nashville is about more than price. You want someone who understands Tennessee clay, not just how to lay sod. Check if they talk about drainage, soil prep, and native plants. Ask to see real examples of their work in your part of town. If you want ongoing care, check what’s included in their maintenance plans. And don’t be shy about asking how they handle big storms or droughts, because both will show up eventually.

What to Ask Why it Matters
Soil prep methods Clay and drainage issues
Plant selection Survives TN heat & freeze
Maintenance plans Keeps yard looking sharp
Warranty details Protects your investment
Local experience Knows Nashville quirks

Frequently asked questions

How much does landscaping cost in Nashville?

Basic yard cleanups start around $300, while full landscape design and installation can range from $2,500 to $20,000 or more. Prices depend on yard size, materials, and project complexity.

Use mulch to keep soil moist, choose drought-tough plants, and water deeply but less often. Ask your landscaper about drip irrigation or rain barrels to help your yard survive Tennessee’s dry spells.
