My rating is on hold for now. Currently determining % fines by weight or volume. When spreading heavy (weight) fines the compaction changes vs volume. I await a determination by AZ Weights and Measures as to any recommendations and if recommendations are followed by J & J. Photos attached so you can see what we experienced... this is 1/2" pink coral and it is hard to find. In all fairness the staff is VERY PROFESSIONAL and they can not control the mines and crushing facilities. If you want screened and washed material they have it in gold and ONLY in gold. For the average consumer, I feel by weight vs volume should be specified. Reason is example: 1 ton of feathers spreads further than 1 ton of lead. This product is neither of course but 1 ton of fines is like 1 ton of lead when we're trying for coverage less lead (fines) and more rock (feathers) is expected. Talk to the employees wherever you go and dig into what's in the bulk bins to see what you're actually getting before you get a pile of mostly (my opinion ... see what's in my hand) fines.

My wife and I cannot overstate how fantastic our yard looks and the experience we had with Juan and the Pimentel team! We purchased our over 5 years ago and needed to update the yard and irrigation. I contacted 4 companies, and Juan was the only one that responded that day. He came out and walked the yard, and provided a detailed quote the next day. The work began 5 days later. His team was unreal. On-time (daily texts stating who would be coming and confirming the time – fantastic), courteous and extremely hard workers. At the end of each day, the yard was immaculately cleaned and left ready for the next morning. We had a new irrigation system installed, Juan programmed it and taught my wife and me (not an easy task teaching me!) how to operate the system. From start to finish this was the best experience my wife and I have had with any contractor or business. We cannot recommend Pimentel highly enough and will gladly be a reference. JNK did an absolutely beautiful remodel of my backyard. Replaced my damaged concrete pool deck with travertine, new rock all around the rest of the yard (was originally grass/some rock, then just dirt due to some tree root issues we had), ended up also redoing the inside of the pool with mini-pebble and new tile. I started talking to Naji maybe 2-ish years before we had this done. In the meantime they also had replaced my front yard grass with rock and desert landscape. Every time I reached out to Naji with questions throughout that time he was super responsive…which for some reason seems like it’s hard to find these days. Super easy to work with, fast, hardworking crew, ended up prettier than I could’ve imagined. Highly recommend!

I use Higher Ground for monthly cleanups and the guys do solid work. I wanted to add plants and boulders and Hunter entertained all of my AI renditions and shenanigans, and took time to help me decide on materials. I hired Julio to trim my 3 mature ficus trees. Julio and his staff were a joy to hire. His prices undercut his competition and he was great at communicating. Julio is fantastic person, respectful and responsible. The pricing is very reasonable as well! I was left waiting for my backyard palm tree removal by another team on a Saturday that never showed up to do the work after paying a 200.00 deposit. I contacted Julio for my palm tree removal and the next day Sunday at 5:00am he was at my home ready to take down my palm tree. He finished the work in around 2 hrs and left my backyard very clean. After moving in to a new home with an unusable, sloped backyard, we interviewed several of the top-rated landscape designers in the area. We dealt with no-shows, lack of communication, and sketchy at-best timelines and quotes from several of them. I called Tara at The Desert Root and from the first visit we knew we found a company that actually seemed to want to earn our business. On the inititial consultation we discussed our wants as well as the limitations our yard created, and after returning several more times to measure, remeasure, run string lines, they provided us a plan and line-item budget. We were able to tweak the plan and quote to fit our needs/budget, and within a week of HOA approval (which Tara navigated perfectly) their team began. From start to finish the project was about 5 weeks, which is about how long it took other top-rated companies to return a call. The team was considerate with time, always let us know the plan and next steps, cleaned up after themselves, and were respectful. The end result is an amazing yard that we did not think was achievable. Do yourself a favor and at least call them for a consultation and let them earn your business.

My wife and I are new to the Scottsdale area so we didn’t have much to go off of regarding experience with landscape contractors. After interviewing three companies, we chose Meise Design Group for our backyard raise and rebuild. We couldn’t be happier with the process and finished results. It was a smooth process working with Andrew, Eddie, and the entire Meise crew. Andrew was very attentive to our questions and concerns. He got us involved in all of the decision making by asking us questions and laying out all options over and over again, so we could come to a solution that was suitable for us. Andrew was always available for us throughout our project. At times I would text him as early as 6:00AM and he would respond right away. Their quality of work is undeniable. They pay attention to every detail, as you can see in the attached photos. I felt there pricing was fair. We had a few cost overruns but this was because we wanted a few upgrades- Not because he changed cost midway thru the project. Our project was finished on time and we were so impressed we asked them to gut and redo our front yard as well! MDG gets nothing less than a 5.0 rating and I highly recommend using them on your landscape projects.

Working with Meise Design Group was the best experience! We went under contract in April 2024 to build a home here in Arizona while we were living in Virginia. As we got closer to the completion date (January 2025), we began our search for landscaping professionals. MDG was recommended to us from an architect we've been following on Instagram for several years. Between that recommendation, MDG's own Instagram portfolio, and their online reviews, we thought this might be a fit. We initially worked with Andrew, who was super accommodating - first working with us over email and Zoom, then meeting us at the homesite in person when we flew out here for progress checks. He was great working with two people who have never had any outdoor space (former apartment/condo/townhouse people) and were mostly clueless about what we wanted other than some Pinterest inspo photos. And he was also just so perfect for us specifically - he is a former east coaster himself and a dog-person - so he knew to explain things we wouldn't know (e.g. window reflections can melt turf in this Arizona heat) and how to prioritize our dogs' needs (e.g. our pool has a ledge so if a pup falls in, they're not far from safety). There was never any pressure - to go a certain direction, to exceed our budget, or to hurry up with decisions. Andrew was always prepared to talk in detail about options, tradeoffs, and pros/cons - and to let us see how those different things would look using his design software. We eventually landed on a design that we loved, that met our HOA requirements, and that met state and local requirements - all of which MDG took care of (e.g. HOA application info, county permits, etc.). Eddie and the teams on our property to complete the work were great. Everyone was kind, everything was kept as tidy as possible throughout the work; someone even came over on their day off because of a big rain storm - just to make sure everything was put away. Our project wrapped on time, on budget, and on expectations. We had a super informative final walkthrough - letting us know how to work everything, when to maintenance things, etc. And then we've heard from the team a few times since - just checking in on us. Our backyard is our sacred space - we LOVE it. All our guests love it. We've caught neighbors taking photos as inspo for their own yards. It's very simple because it prioritizes our view and our pups, but we've seen much more elaborate work MDG has done - so whatever your project, we would highly recommend MDG!

We completed a big project for our home. Front yard and the entire back yard. We went from dirt to a beautiful oasis thanks to Green Mart. The reason we picked them was because of Brandon’s backyard design and we wanted to go with a local company. Brandon and Pedro always responded promptly with any concerns or questions we had. Granted with any construction project there are always hiccups but they were always available to answer any questions or address any concerns. They were helpful when it came to city inspections and remained tenant throughout. The project did take longer than projected however the hold ups involved third parties as well as city clearance. Pedro and his team were fantastic! I was tired of our old backyard with aging cool decking, old landscaping and grass that was never quite right. After receiving 5+ quotes, I went with GreenMart. They were super responsive and did everything they said they would on time. They worked with us on revising the design a few times as well. Their pricing was also very competitive.
