Our lead, Darien, ran the whole project and was everything you’d want - prompt, thorough, and genuinely great to communicate with. We could not be more pleased with our new front porch (raised patio) than we are! From our first phone consultation with Evan, then our first meeting, we knew our project was in competent hands. Communication with us leading to, and during, construction was excellent. Due to circumstances beyond our, and Western Landscape's control, this part of our project didn't start until November. Everyone we met along the way knew their stuff but, at the end of the day, we lucked out with Dave! Beyond just being a really nice guy, he was meticulous in his work, had a great eye for detail, solved some vexing problems and was incredibly skilled. When some unwelcome winter weather arrived, he bent over backwards to allow us access to our front door (which we hadn't been able to use since June!) with promises that he would be back to complete his work as soon as the weather permitted, and he was! This is a quality company with quality people who do quality work and go above and beyond. We hope to work with them again!

To our great satisfaction, Alt’s Operation recently updated a variety of landscape items at our house. The work included spreading shredded bark and Mississippi River gravel in existing planting beds, adding a few new shrubs and perennials to our layout, repairing or resetting a few existing brick pavers, placing fresh sod over a large bare area in the front lawn, renovating an underground rainwater drainage pipe with a pop-up emitter, and surface cleaning the rock slabs of our water feature before starting the water flowing for spring. Kory and his team, comprised of very talented and experienced designers and landscapers, made sure all work was completed to our satisfaction in a timely manner. Kory’s professional methodology followed a progression beginning with his initial consultation, followed by a “Landscape Budgetary Analysis” with a description and photographs of proposed work areas. Before work began, a Contract with very clear and specific language describing the intended work and associated costs in a line item format was signed. We are very happy with the completed project! I contacted King Maple to install a flagstone patio. I am very happy with it. They got it done in a day and did everything that was included in the quote. They went above and beyond and added some mulch to the area that the skid steer had gone over as well as putting down some grass seed where the soil connects to my neighbor's lawn (not in my quote and greatly appreciated). They did a great job of cleaning up when they were done - also important to me. I would definitely use them if I have any other projects in the future, and highly recommend them.

The design work that Mark did was great and only surpassed by the exceptional job that Andrew and Tyler did when it came to the physical work. Before and after photos of this retaining wall project in our backyard. This was a big mess with rotted wood, creosote soaked tree trunks and a rotting ramp. It required lots of excavation, placement of drainage and filling what used to be a big hole. It’s so beautiful now! I can guarantee that no matter how awful it looks while they’re mid-project, the guys will neaten everything up. Although I would have liked better communication about issues and changes, the guys were really nice, very professional and did amazing work in 90+ degree heat and lots of rain. I would definitely hire them again. The pics say it better than I can.

We used Proscapes (Western) again for more landscaping projects. They expanded a boulder wall on the other side of the yard, installed a crushed granite walkway that wraps around the front and side of the house, and set up more perennial garden beds. Ps they warranty all plants for a year so we have that piece of mind. Plus they accommodated existing plants we wanted to keep. Finally we had planned to put in a second flagstone walkway, but mid project we pivoted and they instead created a full flagstone patio. It looks so amazing next to our deck! The onsite team was fabulous. The guys showed up when expected and stayed long days to get the job done. They really helped us design and produce a yard we completely love. We know we'll use them again.

Buyer Beware: Zero Accountability Once They Have Your Money If you are considering using The Bruce Company, be prepared for great sales pitches but absolute negligence the second the installation crew leaves your driveway. We closed on our brand-new home in September 2025, and the arborvitae they planted was already completely dead the day we took possession (as you can see in image). It wasn't shocked; it was a crispy, dead stick. Nearly a year later, I am still staring at this eyesore because our account manager, James Wagner, completely checked out. He has been dismissive, entirely non-responsive, and has ghosted a patient customer trying to get a simple warranty replacement. The lack of quality control didn't stop there. Their team installed our grass irrigation system but completely forgot to turn on the main water supply valve, leaving a brand-new system totally useless. We had to diagnose and fix their oversight ourselves, and when we brought it to their attention, they offered zero compensation or care. A company’s true colors show in how they handle mistakes. Leaving a client with dead landscaping and an inoperable water system for a year while your account manager ducks calls is pathetic service. Potential buyers should look elsewhere if they value communication and getting what they actually paid for.

We went to The Bruce Company seeking water lily’s for our pond, and an assortment of other plants. We were pretty excited to go, thinking we would find some unique and beautiful plants. What we found were several particularly unfriendly and unhelpful staff members and a rather sad looking water lily for $50 (which we bought). As a gardening store that promotes itself as somewhat high-end and has high-end prices, it blew goats for quarters. Thumbs down.
