A Little Rock homeowner should call a company that matches the work, whether that means lawn treatments, mowing, planting, drainage, or installation. Hiring one usually involves a property visit, a written scope, pricing, and a maintenance schedule. Ask how the company handles heat, humidity, clay soil, weeds, and summer watering.

A Little Rock homeowner should call a landscaper whose services match the job, whether that is lawn treatment, planting, drainage, mowing, or a full installation. Hiring one usually means a site visit, a written scope, a price, and a maintenance plan that survives an Arkansas summer.

Little Rock yards deal with hot, humid summers, sudden heavy rain, winter freezes, and long stretches when turf needs steady water. Red clay and compacted soil can hold water in one spot while letting another patch bake hard, so a good plan starts with drainage and soil rather than a pretty plant list.

Bermuda and zoysia can handle much of the heat, while tall fescue needs more careful summer watering and may thin out during severe heat. Ask about irrigation, slope, shade, deer pressure, and the amount of upkeep you can actually give the yard. September has a way of exposing every lazy decision made in May.

Who are the best landscaping companies in Little Rock?

Ordered by Google rating weighted against the number of ratings, so a long record of good work outranks a handful of perfect scores. This is a ranking of public feedback, not an endorsement.

1. Fairway Lawns of Little Rock

4.4 stars from 456 Google reviews.

Fairway Lawns of Little Rock focuses on lawn care shaped around local conditions, including heat, humidity, weed pressure, soil limitations, and common turf pests. The company uses knowledge of grasses suited to the area to guide treatment decisions and support healthier lawns through the growing season.

What customers say:

They have been treating my yard for 2 years since I moved in to my home. The first year was okay. Some weeds still but no major complaints. Second year more weeds were popping up. Still okay. Mediocre service, not great. Then they double billed me for an annual treatment of $113, so I call them. They said they didn’t see a double billing on their end. I told them the was on my credit card statement twice two days apart. The lady told me I would have to take that on with the credit card company. So I called the credit card company and started a dispute. The card company refunded me and I thought it was all good. I continue service with them for another month. That that point I started getting text messages, emails, and letter to my house saying my account was past due. So I called again and explained the situation. I told them I was happy to send the credit card statement as proof of the double billing and they said that wouldn’t be necessary that they would look into and get back to me. Another week went by with no response and I called again and spoke to the same guy. I believe his name was Ben but I’m not sure. He said they were still looking into and they would call me. I told Ben that my yard hadn’t been treated in a couple months now and that I wasn’t going to call again. They needed to make it right or I would just have to find another company. Two more weeks with no response. They kept texting me saying my bill was past due and service was stopped. So I responded to the text and explained the situation again. I told them via text that I needed this sort out today or I would be taking my business elsewhere since they have stopped my service due to the past due bill that was paid months ago. They said they were looking into and would get back to me. They didn’t not get back to me. They are clearly either incompetent or really just don’t care. So, I’m done with them. I’ll be moving on to the next company and blocking their text messages. I would recommend if you are looking for a company to treat your lawn, save yourself the hassle and try someone else. I also asked my friend, who originally recommended them to me, how his service had been and he said the same thing happened to him and he was dropping them. Not sure if they are under new management or what but they are a joke now. Update: They reached out via text after my initial review to tell me I was wrong and they I had not been double charged. Even after I had sent in my credit card statement. I assume he/she hadn’t seen it, so I sent it again. Now I’m once again in being told they are “looking into it”. What an awful customer service experience. Update: Dustin the Little Rock Branch Manager called me and was very apologetic and said that I had been double charged and they are zero out the unpaid bill. He put a credit on my account to cover the next couple of months so I agreed to let them keep treating it for a while and give them a second chance. I’m glad Dustin made it right. I’m not sure why they couldn’t have done that two months ago and saved me a lot of trouble. It’s sounds like the local branch and the corporate account are not communicating.

This is a reliable company that I have used for the past five years. No brown patches of grass and no weeds or crap grass. Fairway Lawns is a professional service that knows how to treat your grass and its customers. They follow-up consistently. I highly recommend you to their services. Blessings 🙏. -- JH

We foster puppies so our yard is important to us. Ben Merritt has been our lawn tech for 5+ years. He understands that we have a lot of dogs here on any given day and he always texts me asking what a good time would be for him to treat the yard. He is so considerate and always works around our schedule! He goes above and beyond for us and we so value and appreciate him. And our lawn is always looking great in the summer. Thanks Ben!

Highly recommend! They were very responsive, which was very much appreciated. They trimmed bushes and put down new mulch. It was amazing service! They cleaned out all old mulch, took care of removing solar lights, placed the new mulch with meticulous detail. It looks amazing AND they put the solar lights back exactly as they were. I will most certainly utilize their services again. They genuinely care about their work!

I reached out for a quote for sod / zoysia for my front yard. They were quick and professional to come out and quote me. The installation was so quick and professionally done! I’m so happy with my new yard and Elite Grounds Lawn & Landscaping! Highly recommend!!!

Oogy Boogy, 5 months ago

Brandon and his team were fantastic. I placed an inquiry through their website site and he was back with me the same day and then out to our house to give me a quote the very next day for laying mulch in all of our beds. Once we agreed on the price they did the install within two days and it looks amazing. Will definitely be using them again for other projects.

The quality of his work was excellent, and he made my family feel genuinely cared for—like we were more than just customers. It’s rare to find someone so dedicated and trustworthy. I wholeheartedly recommend Cedric and his company to anyone in the area. We’re grateful to have someone like him we can depend on.

I recently purchased a newly built home in the Maumelle community and wanted to find the best company to bring my landscaping vision to life. After researching several companies, I decided to contact Mr. Cedric Webb of Going The Extra Mile Landscaping Inc., and I am so glad I did. Shortly after moving into my home, I called Mr. Webb to discuss my landscaping goals. The very next day, he personally came out to evaluate my property, listened carefully to my ideas, and took the time to explain what needed to be done. He provided thoughtful recommendations, answered all of my questions, and made me feel confident that my project was in capable hands. Within just a few weeks, the irrigation system was professionally installed, and my beautiful flower gardens were completed. What impressed me most was that Cedric and his team never rushed the process. They were methodical, detail-oriented, and patient throughout the irrigation installation, allowing the city ample time to complete its required inspections before moving forward. I truly appreciated their commitment to doing the job correctly rather than simply finishing it quickly. Even after the work was completed, Cedric's dedication did not end. He returned to my property several times to inspect the completed work, make any necessary adjustments, and ensure everything was functioning properly. He was always available to answer my questions and address any concerns, which gave me tremendous peace of mind. I also requested to be placed on a bi-weekly schedule for lawn mowing and flower bed maintenance. Cedric assured me that my property would be added to the maintenance schedule. Since ongoing maintenance is one of my biggest concerns, I have been paying close attention to ensure that commitment is honored. So far, Cedric has absolutely stood by his word. One example that truly demonstrates his character occurred when I noticed grass beginning to grow in my flower beds. I called him that morning to let him know. When I returned home later that day, every flower bed looked immaculate. During our conversation that evening, Cedric told me that after leaving a dentist appointment, he went directly to my home to take care of the flower beds himself. Keep in mind that the temperature that day was 98 degrees, with a heat index of 111 degrees. If that isn't "going the extra mile," I honestly don't know what is. Cedric and his team, including Theon, consistently demonstrated professionalism, courtesy, and exceptional workmanship throughout the entire project. They clearly take pride in their work and genuinely care about customer satisfaction. Another quality I greatly appreciated was that they never requested final payment until I was completely satisfied with every aspect of the project. That level of integrity is becoming increasingly rare and speaks volumes about the company's values. I can wholeheartedly recommend Going The Extra Mile Landscaping Inc. to anyone looking for a landscaping company that delivers outstanding quality, excellent customer service, and follows through on its promises. Their professionalism, honesty, attention to detail, and commitment to customer satisfaction exceeded my expectations. Thank you, Mr. Cedric Webb, Theon, and everyone at Going The Extra Mile Landscaping Inc. for transforming my property into something beautiful. Your hard work, integrity, and willingness to truly go the extra mile have earned my trust and highest recommendation.

I contacted Exterior Solutions for a landscaping quote and had it scheduled within the hour. Every step of the way with Exterior Solutions was quick and reliable! I'd planned on getting multiple quotes for landscaping but after meeting Trey and seeing how professional and knowledgeable he is, I didn't see the need. I'm so happy with how my flower beds turned out!

Darby Knox, 4 months ago

They did amazing work. We had them redo our landscaping. They were fast and efficient. I also appreciate they asked about what we wanted and why we wanted it. They made suggestions and even talked us out of a more expensive option because it did not fit our needs. I would go with them again in a heartbeat. Thanks Trey!

Matthew Albright, 3 months ago

They did a great job landscaping our front and back yard. We have a sloped yard. Very sloped in the back and they were able to make a large retaining wall to level out the majority of the backyard. The "tiered" flower beds prevent soil erosion from the flower beds and look much better than before. See before and after pictures. They were easy to work with, communicated well and finished projects timely. I would highly recommend.

5. Natural State Horticare

4.7 stars from 72 Google reviews.

What customers say:

I moved my lawn service to Natural State Horticare this past year. I can affirm that my turf and beds improved greatly and looked better than any other of the twelve years I lived at this address. Thank you for excellent care and assistance!

Bob Bidewell, 10 months ago

I have used Natural State for years. The improvement in my grass, trees and shrubbery is noticeable. When servicing, they take pictures of each element of my grounds to study and note any changes that need special attention. My questions are always responded to with care and thoughtfulness.

buff blass, 4 months ago

6. The Grounds Guys of Greater Little Rock

4.5 stars from 44 Google reviews.

The Grounds Guys of Greater Little Rock provides lawn and landscape services for residential and commercial properties, including maintenance, outdoor lighting, pest-related work, and flower garden installation. The company presents its approach as reliable, budget-conscious, and environmentally friendly, with options for both routine care and new landscape projects.

What customers say:

We started service in 2019 based on some very positive reviews here. The first few visits were encouraging - they even did patterns on the lawn! The quality of the work progressively deteriorated, however. We reached out to the office several times about the grass being cut too short and the occasional missed appointments. While the office was always responsive, the crew did not seem to respond to our feedback. Over time, the grass developed bald spots and the lawn's brick borders got completely demolished in places due to the use of heavy lawnmowers on a relatively small and sloped yard. We discontinued service after we got no visits for five weeks between March and April 2020. It appears they might be great for a businesses, but not so good for residential.

Kiril Kolev, 6 years ago

I chose this business based on a recommendation. They initially quoted me an insane amount for my tiny lawn. After I told them I wanted only weed treatment and flower bed maintenance they, I guess, deemed that my business wasn’t worth their time. It took multiple attempts to contact them to edit my contract. They came to spray my lawn once, just before it rained. They never performed any hedge trimming or flower bed maintenance, which we discussed multiple times and I haven’t had any follow up contact with the company at all. I never leave bad reviews and I’m truly disappointed in this company.

Lindsey Thompson, 5 years ago

The Grounds Guys are the real deal! We use them weekly for our lawn service and have been extremely impressed with their efficiency and timelines but today they became our hero’s. Unfortunately, we were left with a huge mess due to the storms and were devastated by the wreckage. The Grounds Guys came to our rescue and cleaned it all up. They are all encompassing and we are amazed at all the services they offer and their professionalism. Happy customers for life! Thank you!!

7. Arkansas Luxury Lawns & Greens

4.9 stars from 30 Google reviews.

What customers say:

Yea - no more mowing unless turf starts growing! 😁😁😁 Very pleased with all involved in my install and ownership and sales. Very professional, helpers led by Hose’ who was extremely courteous and friendly answering all of my questions. Highly recommend their sales and installation services.

Bob Ideker, 3 months ago

Joel, Trey and team at Arkansas Luxury Lawns did an amazing job making our backyard dreams come true. The quality of work and attention to detail was second to none. Highly recommend!

Aaron Cates, a year ago

Just finished turfing part of my yard that is almost impossible to grow sod and the dogs run in the mud. It looks amazing and we could not be happier with the work. Pricing was reasonable given the great quality of work and the cost of materials and labor. Would recommend 10/10 and will use them again.

I’m a real estate agent and Apex has done a phenomenal job for my clients! They’ve maintained consistently great work at a great price and have kept the neighbors happy. Apex is a vital resource for Realtors and homeowners!

Stanton Robinson, a month ago

We’ve had a really great experience with Apex Lawns. What I’ve appreciated most is how observant they are. They’ve caught little things in the yard I wouldn’t have noticed like early weeds starting to come in or areas that needed a little extra attention, and they’ve given thoughtful suggestions on planting that have actually helped. You can tell they care about how everything looks when they leave, and they don’t miss the small details. It never feels rushed or routine. They’re dependable and follow through on what they say. It just feels like they genuinely take pride in their work, and it shows.

Vernon Stading, 6 months ago

We have used Horticare several times. Each time we have been terrifically satisfied and pleased. All their personnel are nice, friendly and accommodating. Their work crews come to WORK, no lost motion..We WILL use Horticare again.

James Calloway, 9 years ago

Horticare just finished a fairly large project for my wife and I (a retaining wall on a very sloped front yard, beds, drainage, and irrigation). We are extremely happy with the results. The Horticare team was professional and kept us up to date with everything. The project took about 5 weeks, which was over the estimated time. However, rather than rushing to complete the job, they took their time to make sure it was done correctly. We worked with Kevin Brinkley as the designer. The majority of the work was done by Jose and his crew. You could tell that they really took pride in the quality of their work and we won't hesitate to recommend them.

How do you choose a landscaper in Little Rock?

Start by deciding whether the job is routine lawn care, a one-time cleanup, planting, drainage correction, outdoor lighting, or a full landscape installation. Those are different kinds of work, and a company that is strong at one may not be the right fit for another.

Ask for an on-site assessment rather than a price based only on photographs. The contractor should look at soil compaction, turf type, sun exposure, drainage, irrigation coverage, slopes, mature trees, and access for equipment. In Little Rock, a yard can change from workable soil to stubborn red clay in the space of one shovel blade.

Get the scope in writing. It should identify plants or materials, bed preparation, grading, irrigation changes, cleanup, warranty terms, and who handles permits or utility locates if those apply. For recurring lawn care, ask what each visit includes, how often service occurs, and whether applications change with the season.

Compare the proposals by what they actually cover, not just the total price.

Project need Questions to ask Details to compare
Lawn treatment What grass and weeds are present? Treatment timing, watering instructions, and follow-up visits
Mowing and maintenance What happens during wet weeks or extreme heat? Visit frequency, edging, cleanup, and seasonal changes
Planting or bed work Will the soil be amended before planting? Plant sizes, spacing, mulch depth, and replacement policy
Drainage or grading Where will runoff go during a heavy storm? Grade changes, discharge point, erosion control, and restoration
Full installation Who handles design, materials, and installation? Written plans, change orders, schedule, and maintenance after completion

Before signing, confirm insurance, payment stages, start dates, communication expectations, and what happens if weather delays the work. A good contractor will also tell you which plants are a bad match for the site, which is useful information even if it is not the most exciting part of the meeting.

Frequently asked questions

What grasses grow best in Little Rock?

Bermuda and zoysia are common choices for sunny yards because they tolerate Arkansas heat. Tall fescue can work in partial shade, but it needs more consistent summer watering and may struggle during extended hot, dry weather. A landscaper should identify the existing turf before recommending a treatment or replacement.

How often should a Little Rock lawn be watered in summer?

Start with the goal of about 1 inch of water per week from rain and irrigation, adjusting for soil, shade, slope, and local weather. Water early in the morning and check whether the irrigation system is covering the lawn evenly. A timer helps because August is not a reliable coworker.

Why does my Little Rock yard stay soggy after rain?

Compacted clay, low spots, blocked downspouts, poor grading, and excessive irrigation can all trap water. A contractor should watch the yard during or soon after a heavy storm, trace where runoff travels, and recommend grading, drainage, soil improvement, or irrigation changes rather than simply adding more plants.

What should a landscaping estimate include?

A useful estimate identifies the work area, materials, plant sizes, soil preparation, grading, irrigation changes, cleanup, schedule, payment terms, and any maintenance after installation. For recurring service, it should also list visit frequency and the tasks included. If those details are missing, the low price may just be hiding the rest of the job.

Build for the rain, the red clay, and the August heat, and the yard has a fair chance.
