10 Landscaping Companies in Fremont, California
Compare 10 Fremont landscaping companies for planting, irrigation, hardscaping, outdoor construction, and ongoing landscape care

A Fremont homeowner should call a landscaper whose work matches the job, whether that is irrigation, planting, paving, or full installation. Hiring one usually means a site visit, a written scope, drainage and water planning, material selection, construction, and a maintenance plan. Get the details in writing before anyone brings a plate compactor.
A Fremont homeowner should call a landscaper whose work matches the job, whether that is irrigation, planting, paving, or full installation. Hiring one usually means a site visit, a written scope, drainage and water planning, material selection, construction, and a maintenance plan.
Fremont has a Mediterranean climate, with wet winters and long, dry summers that can turn a sunny yard into a hose-reel endurance test. Homeowners commonly deal with compacted or clay-heavy soil, poor drainage near foundations, irrigation that covers the sidewalk better than the planting bed, and plants stressed by heat, wind, or reflected pavement.
The eastern hills can bring more slope and runoff, while flatter neighborhoods may have settled soil and drainage problems after older construction. A good plan accounts for those conditions, uses the right plants for the exposure, and keeps water on the property instead of sending it toward the neighbor's fence.
Who are the best landscaping companies in Fremont?
Ordered by Google rating weighted against the number of ratings, so a long record of good work outranks a handful of perfect scores. This is a ranking of public feedback, not an endorsement.

What customers say:
This is our third time working with System Pavers and a different team (John - design, Octavio - construction manager) and again happy with the results. We extended our driveway and because we live on a slope, I thought it was going to be a challenge but John came through with the vision and Octavio and his boys knocked it out. It was much better than I envisioned, given I just needed something 'simple' for this extension. As with their workmanship guarantee, Octavio helped fix small imperfections to make it right for us after completion as well, so awesome. We've been happy clients for almost a decade. Nice job, John and Octavio

From John in sales to Octavio our project manager, the process was very smooth with great outcomes. We love the new modern driveway. The team was extremely efficient and competitive in pricing. The results speak for themselves.
Scott Giambastiani, 2 months ago
Great experience with Brandon in Sales, and Adrian who was the Project Manager. Exactly what I was expecting, and they took a lot of care to explain the entire process from end to end VERY thoroughly. They kept in great contact, and the actual paver installers were outstanding and very nice. Overall great experience and I'll be coming back for more projects.

What customers say:
Loved this place, didn’t even noticed we spent 3:30 hrs. It felt like I was at the rose garden as the place was 3/4th occupied with roses. You will find a variety of colors but it’s a bit pricy compared to Home Depot and Lowe’s. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. They were readily available to listen to our queries and provide good solutions or alternatives. The other 1/4 covers varieties of blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, gooseberries, Anna apples, lemons, other fruits, papaya, hibiscus, outdoor hanging plants, some shrubs, Mandevilla’s and melons nursery beds. They also have a room to accommodate indoor plants, water fountains, plant foods. Outside are some varieties of plant soil, pot mix etc. free parking lot available. Also there are paper rolls bundle free of cost to wrap our plants, if needed. Upon asking for discounts, they mentioned they give 10% discount on purchase of 5 plants/ saplings. The roses start at $69, $79 and $149. Do check the entire place as the ones that are $79 are placed on a corner. Do reconcile the items with receipt before you leave because today a pot mix soil was added by mistake at the checkout so we went back and since they have an entry in hard copy it became easy to verify and money was refunded. They mentioned that there are no returns like in Home Depot if the plant wilts or doesn’t grow as expected but they will be happy to assist in case of questions, solutions etc

The place is good with plenty variety of plants, however they are a bit expensive. We were there to specifically get a fruit plant and were disappointed with the customer service. We picked out a fruit tree we liked and asked the front desk person on details or tips on planting it but he simply advised us to read the label 😑 Same with the lady at the checkout counter.

First, the good stuff: they have a huge selection of plants: annuals, perennials, all manner of shade trees and fruit trees, and so on. The bad: EVERYTHING is final sale, so you have to be EXTREMELY careful in what you select to buy. I bought around $1000 worth of flowers and fruit trees from them, and did not have any issues until I bought a Fuerte avocado tree from them that had some black stems. I asked the gentleman sitting in front of their office, and he claimed it's just due to chilly winters and is normal, so I bought it. It wasn't until after planting, and it dying shortly afterwards, that I realized it probably had root rot. During transplantation, the roots were discolored and small (healthy roots are plentiful and white). While I'm no certified arborist, I'm not a newbie either; I've planted many shade and fruit trees, with proper root scoring, hole depth/width, soil mix, etc, and those are all thriving. This avocado tree is the only one that died. I emailed them twice to see if there can be an exception made for this instance, to either refund the $90 that I paid for the avocado tree, or to exchange for a healthy one. I never got a response. Definitely do your due-diligence, unless you're absolutely sure the plant you picked out at Regan is 100% healthy, go to Summer Winds, Yamagami's, Costco, etc, instead. These other stores have comparable pricing and selections, but more importantly, HAVE AN ACTUAL RETURN/EXCHANGE POLICY.

What customers say:
At the end of a complete home remodel that took us a year, we decided that we wanted to upgrade our old, stained, cracking concrete front porch area. We thought we would replace it with stamped concrete but after getting a couple of bids we started thinking of extending the stone pavers in front of our garage into the front porch. We had the original pavers installed 20 years ago and we were leaning toward giving this job to the same company that did the first install - they were excellent. When Alexis learned that we wanted pavers he urged us to consider Malagon, so we requested a quote after seeing some beautiful paver work on his website. His bid was super competitive and he was very responsive and patient in explaining how he would handle several aspects of the job including rerouting downspouts and adding a paver border around our existing hardscaping. He is a clear and consistent communicator and makes you feel taken care of. The crew was very efficient, hardworking and respected our property. Even with a rain delay of several days after the demo was done, they finished in less than two weeks and did a fantastic job. The combination of price, quality and efficiency was superior. They came back to touch up the stucco exterior paint and fence stain once everything was done. Our front yard upgrade is amazing and we feel like our remodel is finally complete! I would use Malagon Legacy Landscaping again in a heartbeat!

Alex and his team are the best in the biz. He has a crew of knowledgeable and hard working landscapers and he will work with you to achieve whatever goals you have for your landscaping needs. His team brought our space back from an overgrown jungle to a clean and well organized space with perfect mulch layer ready for us to plant new. Our fruit trees, hedges and cypress all were pruned to perfection. Everything for a very reasonable rate as well. MALAGON is the answer!
Matthew Chimento, a year ago
From the moment I contacted Malagon Landscaping, Alexis, the owner, responded very quickly. He was able to come that day to assess what needed to be done. He emailed me the proposal that evening, and was able to start the project within 2 days. We had pavers for the side yard, artificial turf in backyard, privacy screen built, general clean up ( weeds) , and mulch placed. They also power washed our old fence and stained it to look brand new! His crew did an excellent job, and are all hard working. They came on time every day, and always left the yard tidy. Alexis was always available and responsive to my texts, which was so reassuring to me. I am so very impressed with the professionalism and work ethic of Alexis and his crew, and I am so grateful that we found his company to do our backyard project. Do not hesitate to hire him!

Hello everyone! I'm excited to share that I recently had my front yard renovated with beautiful pavers. The project also included elegant pillars and a thoughtfully designed layout that really enhances the overall appearance of my home. The workmanship is top-notch, and everything looks clean and polished. Additionally, I was really impressed with the level of communication throughout the process; the team was responsive and kept me informed every step of the way. Overall, I'm very happy with the results!

Absolutely love how this turned out. The modern wood-and-metal fence looks sleek, sturdy, and beautifully finished. The craftsmanship is top-notch—clean lines, evenly spaced panels, and a smooth, professional install. It adds privacy without feeling closed in and really elevates the whole property’s curb appeal. The sidewalk and overall finish show great attention to detail. You can tell quality materials and care went into this project. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a modern, durable fence that looks amazing.

What customers say:
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was unacceptable. If I could give zero stars, I would. From the moment I walked in, the staff was dismissive and condescending. Norma was unprofessional throughout the interaction, and Eddie, who presented himself as a supervisor, was even more discourteous. Rather than answering straightforward questions, they responded with smirks and remarks such as, "It is what it says it is," making it clear they had little interest in helping a customer. I visited intending to place a substantial order, but after the way I was treated, there was no chance I would spend my money there. Instead of providing basic customer service, they spoke as though assisting customers was an inconvenience. When I respectfully pointed out how rude their behavior was, they shrugged it off and mocked me rather than addressing the concern. There is no excuse for treating customers this way. Professionalism, courtesy, and respect should be the minimum standard for any business, and this company failed on all three. I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. There are plenty of other suppliers offering comparable pricing with staff who value their customers and know how to provide professional service.
Rujul Pathak, 2 months ago
Rude company with horrible customer service. Norma in the office is extremely unprofessional, and Eddie — who acts like a supervisor — was even more rude and condescending. They speak to customers as if they’re doing you a favor, even though you’re the one giving them business. Completely unacceptable. Save yourself the trouble and take your business elsewhere. They don’t deserve it.
Sharon Kalfon, 10 months ago
I ordered pavers from them. They charged me a $900 delivery fee to pick up the pavers from the manufacturer. Their flatbed truck broke down before delivering my final load and currently causing a 2 week+ delay to my project. They are unable to provide an ETA on when the truck will get fixed & materials delivered. They are unable to provide a refund or any sort of meaningful compensation (offered 5% off my next order) for the troubles. Through this process, I learned that TriCity Rock gets very few paver orders, so it's no wonder that their truck isn't well maintained and they don't have a good contingency plan. Don't order pavers from them. Update 6/19: I ended up having my own contractor drive down to San Martin to pick up the remaining loads, and they did return $300 of the $900 delivery fee, which I ended up paying to my contractor. However, they did not give me a time extension on returning the empty pallets for the $35/pallet deposit refund (2 days remaining as of this update). When I pointed out that they were the ones that delayed my project by 2+ weeks, they had the audacity to blame me for "taking forever" (their words, not mine) to decide to have my own contractor pick them up! Further, they said I had to be there in person when my contractor returned the pallets for the refund. It's like they're doing everything they can to make my life difficult and con me out of as much money as possible because it's their "policy". I have not dealt with a business that has such bad customer service in a long time.

We couldn't be happier with the work that Koch & Associates did for us in our front yard. We've lived in our house for 5 years now and the front yard needed help. It was full of boxwoods that were not doing well. I googled several different landscape/design companies in the area and Koch & Associates were the first one's to respond to my request. I could tell from their website that they really knew what they were doing. I felt like they could deliver the specific look for the front yard that my wife was looking for (country garden). I had two initial phone consultations with Paul, who walked me through their process and asked questions. He gave some valuable suggestions about our project. We met Paul in person a few weeks later and we were able to walk him through what we were looking. He took measurements of our entire front and delivered a completed plan a few weeks later. We made a few small tweaks to the plan, but we loved it right away and were really excited. Work started the last week of June and took about two weeks. We were thoroughly impressed with the crew of gentlemen they sent out to complete the work. They were all friendly, helpful and easy to talk to. Most of all, they were very respectful of our property. Every day they took their time cleaning everything up before they left. We really appreciated that. I also have to mention that Garrett and Rosa were key in keeping everything moving along smoothly. Rosa kept us updated on upcoming deadlines and schedules and Garret kept the crew running smoothly. They both always had answers whenever I had questions. I would have to say that this is the first time that work has been done at our house and there were no surprises, issues or headaches to deal with. Everything ran very smoothly. We are incredibly happy with the outcome and would highly recommend working with Koch & Associates on your job.
Mike Mortensen, 3 years ago
I looked into many different companies before choosing Koch for our backyard project, and we are really happy with the final product. Garrett was patient with the changes we made to the design and offered helpful feedback to make sure everything was done right. Communication was great throughout the entire process. The finished work looks really elevated, and it never felt like any corners were cut along the way. Garrett really makes the whole process easy for homeowners and I definitely would recommend this company to others.

We recently hired Koch & Associates Landscaping to completely re-do our front and back yard, and we could not be happier with the experience. Doug was incredibly knowledgeable, thoughtful, and diligent in helping us design a space that fits our family’s needs perfectly. When we unexpectedly had to change plans due to emergency tree removal, he rolled with it without hesitation and came up with a fantastic alternative design that we ended up loving even more. The construction process was exceptionally smooth and efficient. Garrett, our construction manager, was outstanding — friendly, communicative, and on top of every detail. He kept us informed every step of the way, coordinated seamlessly with our neighbors on fence work, and worked closely with our concrete contractor to ensure everything tied together beautifully. Rosa in the office was also wonderful to work with. She handled billing promptly and professionally, and even went above and beyond to assist our neighbor with a few unique requests. Koch & Associates is truly a gem. Their team is talented, hardworking, and a joy to partner with. We absolutely love our new yard and are so grateful to have chosen them for this project. Highly recommend!

Jeff did our backyard landscape 3 years ago and when we decided to redo our front yard this year, I didn’t think of anyone except him. Jeff does an amazing job with the design and project timeline as well as communication. His team is great too and they work efficiently so that the project is completed on time. Jeff is a very nice person and treats everyone very well. I would highly recommend Jeff to anyone who is thinking of a landscaping project.
Debalina Ghosh, 3 months ago
Great work guys! I called Jeff a few months ago and asked him to do a design for my back yard. I wanted an arbor, but in order to do that we had to redesign the patio. Jeff came up with a plan that made the best of the space we had using stamped concrete AND found a spot for my wife's pondless waterfall (which we love!). We found Jeff to be professional and likeable guy. So we had his company do the installation. We did lights, plants, lawn, basically re did the whole yard. Jacob and Alejandro were there everyday and are both excellent workers. They didn't rush off to do some other job and keep us waiting for weeks like other contractors we've dealt with. They said they do one project at a time when we hired them and they did. They were a pleasure to work with. The entire crew seem to take pride in their work and place a high premium on customer service. I highly recommend Jefferson Landscape. Easy to work with!
David Blanstin, 5 months ago
After a decade of struggling with our yard (gophers, gravel/astro turf, my poorly selected plants, ghosting landscapers, poor water system) we contacted Jefferson Landscape (thanks Google!). Jeff was able to meet within a couple days of my call, and promptly drafted a plan and contract, ready to start work soon after that. His team was polite, efficient, and cleaned the site every day before they left. They were done in a jiffy! We couldn't be happier with our yard. New water system, lights, plantings that are well designed for the space, and high quality work. Now on my weekends off, I don't have to battle my yard, but enjoy it! Thanks Jefferson Landscape!

John and his son Tony from H&J Landscaping Services were amazing! They delivered on their promise to install new concrete driveway paver installation, a stamp concrete patio, and a paver stone walkway, and the results are absolutely stunning. From the initial quote to the completed project, the entire experience was top-notch. Their customer service was impeccable, and their dedication to delivering high-quality work was outstanding. I wish we had more landscaping companies & paver installers like this in the Bay Area.
Madhava Mukudhan, 3 years ago
I initially had some concerns when they began removing the stamped concrete driveway and walkway, as the clean-up didn't meet my expectations. There were a few tiles to adjust once the remaining sand pile was removed from the lower driveway section, and some loose edge tiles that needed to be firmed up and this repair was done promptly. I received numerous compliments from my neighbors, and I would enthusiastically recommend their services and consider hiring them for another paver installation project in the future.
Cynthia Lu, 3 years ago
I reached out to H&J Landscaping, a Fremont-based company that offers concrete and landscaping services. I needed to hire a landscaper company for this project involving a small concrete patio and paver installation. The scope also involved the removal of an old deck and bricks & install a new concrete cement patio from the area. John, the representative from the company, offered us a fair price and efficiently took care of our requirements. The hardscape project went well, and I'm happy with the results. I will work with them again on redoing my driveway with either paver stone or stamp concrete cement. John is a great landscaper that offers very reasonable price for his services.

The quality of the craftsmanship, especially the retaining wall, paver almost everything is top-tier. They stayed on schedule, stuck to the budget, and handled every detail with immense care. We couldn’t be happier with our new outdoor space and highly recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade their home!

We had a wonderful experience working with Pacific design landscapes. I couldn’t be happier with the way our backyard turned out. The owner, Sui Wong help me so much with the design process by showing everything in 3-D. It helped me visualize how the yard was going to look. I have been debated for months and couldn’t make up my mind what to do, but he made it all very easy. He also helped me pick the materials and explain what would be needed. I can’t say enough about how wonderful the workers were. They were very pleasant to work with very helpful and polite and such hard workers!! Sui promised me the whole project could be done in three weeks and I didn’t believe him, but those guys really worked hard to get everything done before I left on vacation. They put in a stunning flagstone patio since our old one had cracked, that was big enough for a dining area and conversation area, with a New raised bed area, new irrigation, and a smaller lawn area. -I am including some pictures and will post another review in six months letting you know how everything holds up
Susan Gordon, 3 months ago
Sui and his team did a great job redoing our entire front and back yard. He removed all the weeds and old concrete, installed new lawns and pavers, built a retention wall, added a pergola, redid our driveway, installed fences, and irrigation system. He communicated well, stayed on schedule, and completed all the work as agreed. We’re very happy with the results and recommend Sui for landscaping projects.

Well, New Image has been our Landscaping company for over a year and all I have to say is a picture or pictures are worth a thousand words. A note to Pablo "TURN ON OUR WATER". New Image thinks that if the lawn is not watered they don't have to mow it, (which just so happens to be why we pay them). Our lawns were lush and green before New Image was hired.

How do you choose a landscaper in Fremont?
Start by defining the work. A planting refresh, a leaking irrigation system, a paver patio, and a complete yard rebuild are different jobs, even if every estimate calls itself landscaping.
Ask each company to inspect the soil, grade, drainage, irrigation coverage, sun exposure, and access for equipment. In Fremont, a plan that ignores summer water use or winter runoff is not finished. Request a written scope that identifies demolition, soil preparation, plant sizes, materials, drainage work, irrigation changes, cleanup, and what happens if hidden concrete or buried utilities appear.
For larger work, ask who handles design, permits when needed, construction, and project communication. Confirm whether maintenance is included or quoted separately. Before signing, compare the actual scope rather than the headline price. The cheapest bid can become less charming after the first change order.
| Project type | Questions to ask | Fremont-specific concern |
|---|---|---|
| Planting and garden refresh | What soil preparation, plant sizes, and irrigation changes are included? | Dry summers, reflected heat, compacted soil, and plant stress near pavement |
| Irrigation repair or replacement | Will coverage be tested by zone, and is a controller or drip system included? | Overspray, uneven pressure, and summer watering restrictions or high water use |
| Patio, walkway, or driveway | What base depth, drainage, joints, and edge restraint will be used? | Settling, winter runoff, and soil movement beneath hardscape |
| Sloped or drainage-heavy yard | Where will water go during a heavy winter rain? | Hill runoff, erosion, ponding, and water near the foundation |
| Full landscape installation | Who coordinates design, demolition, materials, construction, and cleanup? | Access, buried conditions, permits, and a long dry season after installation |
Check insurance, licensing where applicable, references for similar work, payment stages, warranty language, and the expected schedule. Keep a copy of the final plan, plant list, irrigation settings, and product information. Plants are forgiving. Contracts are less so.
Frequently asked questions
How much does landscaping cost in Fremont, California?
Small planting or irrigation repairs may cost a few hundred dollars, while patios, drainage work, and full-yard installations can reach several thousand dollars or more. The final price depends on demolition, access, soil work, materials, irrigation, drainage, and plant size. Get a written scope instead of relying on a per-square-foot guess.
What plants grow well in Fremont?
Drought-tolerant plants suited to Fremont's Mediterranean climate generally perform best, including California native shrubs, ornamental grasses, sages, lavender, rosemary, and many Mediterranean plants. The right choice still depends on sun, wind, soil drainage, and available irrigation. A plant that thrives in a sunny east-facing yard may struggle beside a shaded wall.
Do Fremont landscaping projects need permits?
Some projects may need permits or approvals, especially work involving structural walls, major grading, electrical work, plumbing, large concrete changes, or significant drainage alterations. Ask the contractor which parts of the project require permits and who will obtain them before construction begins.
How often should a Fremont yard be watered?
During the dry season, many established landscapes need deep irrigation about one or two times per week, adjusted for plant type, soil, exposure, and weather. New plants usually need more frequent watering during establishment. Test the soil and inspect emitters or sprinklers rather than running the system on a blind schedule.
