10 Landscaping Companies in Boise City, Idaho
Compare 10 Boise City landscaping companies and learn what to check before hiring for irrigation, planting, lawn care, or hardscape work
September 21, 2026
By Diego Navarro

A Boise City homeowner should compare these 10 landscaping companies by irrigation skill, soil preparation, maintenance plans, and hardscape experience. Hiring one usually means a site visit, written scope, plant and material choices, grading or drainage review, and a plan for keeping new work alive through Boise’s dry summer heat.
A Boise City homeowner should choose a landscaper who understands dry summers, cold winters, and the irrigation a yard needs to survive both. Hiring one usually starts with a site visit, a written scope, and a clear plan for soil, drainage, plants, and ongoing care.
Boise’s high-desert climate brings hot, dry stretches that can punish lawns and newly planted trees, while winter freezes test patios, irrigation lines, and poorly prepared planting beds. Many yards also have compacted, alkaline soil, so simply spreading mulch over hard ground is not a planting plan.
Ask how the company handles sprinkler coverage, drainage, grading, and soil amendments before discussing decorative details. A pretty planting plan that cannot make it through July is just an expensive seasonal greeting.
Who are the best landscaping companies in Boise City?
Ordered by Google rating weighted against the number of ratings, so a long record of good work outranks a handful of perfect scores. This is a ranking of public feedback, not an endorsement.

Working with Erica and the team at Cutting Edge was an absolute dream! From our very first consultation, Erica was so easy to work with, genuinely listened to my ideas, and brought my entire vision to life better than I could have ever imagined. They completely transformed our backyard by installing an amazing fire pit and BBQ area, along with beautiful flowers, trees, and perfectly placed boulders that give the whole space a gorgeous, natural feel. The crew was professional, efficient, and paid incredible attention to detail. If you are looking to elevate your outdoor space, I cannot recommend Erica and Cutting Edge highly enough. We are so in love with our new backyard

As the president of an HOA, it was my responsibility to put out an RFP to find a contractor who could maintain our lawns and flower beds in our common areas and those properties of several commercial buildings in our area. Ideally, the winning bidder would also support us in the winter with plowing and shoveling snow when necessary. Cutting Edge won the contract by offering a competitive price and great terms. Two years later, I remain a VERY happy customer. Whatever the season, I know I can depend on Cutting Edge to get the job done quickly and at a fair price. I would also add that our account manager, Conor McGrath, is fanatical about providing superior customer service.

Cutting Edge has been providing common area maintenance for our HOA for several years. I cannot tell you how critically important it is for us to have a reliable and responsive point of contact for reporting irrigation and maintenance issues that arise without warning. Andrew Clark is that contact for us, and he is exceptional. It's a challenge to keep over 150 residents satisfied with anything, but as far as landscaping goes, Andrew does more than his fair share of tracking down and resolving underlying issues for us. He is super at communicating with us and following up to close matters out. He makes my job as an HOA board member soooooo much easier. And when it comes to normal weekly maintenance, Cutting Edge's crew does excellent work maintaining our 13+ acres of common and landscaped areas.

Brian at Boise Landscape Design was fantastic to work with. I called him looking for landscaping help for my rental property in the Treasure Valley, and he took the time to really understand what I needed before making a recommendation. He connected me with David at Muscle Mowing, who turned out to be a great fit for the job. Brian's follow-up and genuine care about getting the right match made the whole process easy. Highly recommend reaching out to him if you need help finding the right type of service for your property.

I believe clients place a significant amount of trust in designer referrals, often valuing those recommendations more highly than contractors they may find through a Google search or other advertising. Because that trust has been established with the designer, many consumers are willing to pay a premium, assuming the referral is based on merit, quality of work, and professionalism. As a consumer, you would naturally expect those referrals to represent the best contractors available and to be given without bias or financial influence. About a year ago, I personally considered joining this referral network. The structure involved paying approximately $4,200 per year in exchange for promised referrals and lead opportunities. However, my perspective changed after a conversation with Brian, the owner of BLD. He contacted me regarding a project where one of the contractors in his network reportedly did not want to return to address correction work for a client. I was told the client was “very picky,” and I was asked if I would complete roughly $2,000 worth of corrective work at no charge in exchange for being brought into the network and receiving future referrals. I declined to participate under those terms. What was especially disappointing to me was learning later that the same contractor continued to receive referrals through the network despite the unresolved workmanship concerns. That experience led me to question whether contractor recommendations within the network are truly based on quality and accountability, or simply on who is willing to pay for placement. Personally, that is not the kind of business model or referral practice I believe in or wish to be associated with. For that reason, I would encourage homeowners to do their own due diligence before hiring any contractor. Get multiple bids, research independent reviews, ask for references, and compare contractors both inside and outside of these referral networks. In my opinion, many of the best contractors earn their reputation through the quality of their work and customer satisfaction—not by paying membership fees for referrals.

A picture is worth a thousand words... My husband and I hired Todd at the outset of purchasing our new home to do our entire landscape project, in good faith that we would get a job well done. This was most definitely NOT the case. The topsoil brought in by TLC was weed infested, irrigation lines were not buried to standard, and our lawn struggled. By the end of our third summer, TLC Landscape had destroyed one third of our lawn from an over application of chemicals. Todd chose, as we see in many of his google reviews, not to accept responsibility or take ownership of the problem and made no attempt to fix it. Upon hiring a new lawn company, we discovered that the irrigation system was not properly installed, parts used were off market, broke often, and were substandard. My entire lawn and irrigation system needed to be replaced after only three seasons old. The pump to the water feature barely lasted two seasons and it too needed to be replaced. I would never consider hiring this company when looking for a landscape professional.

We really are happy with how our new patio turned out. Everyone from the owners to the crew installing took pride in their work. They are not cheap but considering the quality of work I would say they are a good value. I believe the true test of a company is how they handle issues. We had one issue come up that was promptly corrected. Mountain Hardspace Systems delivered great results. Highly recommended.

Mountain Hardscaping did a beautiful job. The attached photos are almost a month after they finished, so there's a little dirt here and there from rain and some sprinkler work that happened afterwards, but their work still looks fantastic. They did the hardscaping, the borders, the edging around the yard, added new sod and topsoil and sprinklers. They also added a short French drain to address a drainage issue we were having. We researched all the local Boise hardscaping companies and got price quotes from several places and had a few people come out to estimate. Price-wise they were a little higher than most others but it was clear from the beginning that they weren't going to cut any corners, either. While most others just gave us a brief look and a price, Matt from Mountain HS walked us through the whole process ahead of time, brought a catalog of options to review, and gave us recommendations and also time estimates that ended up being pretty close. They actually were able to start ahead of schedule, which was great for us. I'm pretty sure they sub-contracted a portion of the labor but the guys they used were great. Very polite (our young kids love to wave at people through the windows and the workers would always stop and wave back with a smile), very efficient, and cleaned up and didn't leave a mess behind them (someone forgot a pair of sunglasses and a glove). They even worked on a Saturday morning to make sure they stayed on schedule. They communicated with us throughout the process, checking in at different points, and also had a review after everything was done. We noted that there had been a couple drip line emitters that had gotten broken at some point and a couple sprinkler issues. So nothing major but they took care of everything we found and it has all been working perfectly since. This isn't our first rodeo with different contractors and we've used the cheapest option before, only to have poor communication, delays, poor quality work, and/or expensive post-install problems. We had none of those problems with Mountain. Contracting is truly a you-get-what-you-pay-for world and MHS was worth every penny.

Mr. Chipp does it again. This is the second property they do work on and it looks incredible. We wanted privacy between us and our neighbors and created a rendering of how we wanted our landscape design to turn out and when they got out to the property they laid out the trees for us in the exact placement before digging any holes allowing us to see the placement and make any changes we wanted. They also readjusted our sprinklers, cut out some sod to accommodate the trees as they grow and laid weed barrier and rock. All in all the project looks exactly how we wanted and as my husband put it, it feels like our own little oasis. Will absolutely continue using Mr. Chipp for future landscaping services. Attached are pictures of the before and two of the after. The pictures do not do it justice.

Had Jorge and Chipp renovate our side yard with turf and pavers. Jorge got the drainage perfect since this side gets a lot of shade from the neighbor’s house. They did an awesome job and they gave us a bid within 1-2 days. Jorge was very intuitive and responsive during the job, we’ll be using them again at our next house.
Matt Thatcher, 5 months ago
We had a big project with our back yard This was new construction with just dirt as our starting point. Additionally, we were still living in another location and unable to have in person discussions with Mr. Chip Landscaping team. Our finished back yard exceeded expectations Jorge stayed in contact with us for the duration of our installation. Sending updated pictures, videos and recommending changes to our plan as he identified issues. Our project was completed on budget and timeline we agreed to. There were a couple of small issues we discovered later on and Mr. Chipp team immediately responded to address them. Jorge always responded to our questions and their customer service is exceptional. Everyone who sees our backyard comments on the quality of their work. Would definitely recommend Mr. Chipp for any landscaping projects.

We couldn’t be happier with our backyard remodel by Boise Clean Landscape. Cristian was incredible to work with from start to finish. We came in with a vision, and he truly brought it to life. After getting multiple quotes, his pricing was the most reasonable—and his communication stood out above everyone else. He answered all of our questions, responded quickly to calls and texts, and made the entire process easy and stress-free. Highly recommend!

Cristian was very professional from day one. He listened to our wishes and came up with a plan that was perfect and affordable. Our lawn was a mess from pulling out 7 cottonwood trees and it is now flat, with new grass and sprinklers, a new retaining wall and concrete pad additions. His crew was courteous and efficient. We are very happy and will have them come back for the front yard and some pavers soon!

This landscape company is amazing! The owner Cristian is very honest and was a pleasure to work with. This company is fair in their pricing. Cristian gave me a timeline of when they would be done and they beat the time by four days. His crew is very respectful and very hard workers. The crew would show up every day at 7:00am and worked till 6:00pm. I can’t say enough positive things about this company they truly are awesome! I have felt with many landscape companies over the years and this one is by far the best I have hired. I would highly recommend Cristian at Boise Clean Landscaping to anyone looking to have landscape work and design done. Thank you guys for a fantastic job well done!!

The Chamberlain & Sons Landscaping team does exceptional work. Charlie was easy to talk and work with. He took my conceptual design and turned it into a wonderful patio space for my wife and I. Modern Landscape was tremendous help in the design and installation of both soft and hardscape in my front and backyards. Tree placement was excellent and they have been very easy to work with. Adrian is such a top notch person, we really enjoy working with him and the whole ML Team!

We couldn’t be happier with our experience working with Modern Landscape! From start to finish, the team was professional, creative, and incredibly skilled. Our finished yard is absolutely breathtaking — complete with two beautiful fountains, a sunken firepit, an outdoor kitchen, new pavers, and lush landscaping with trees, shrubs, and perennials. Scott, Christian, and Adrian were each amazing to work with — every one of them brought their own expertise and attention to detail, and it showed in the final result. The crew worked tirelessly, stayed on schedule, and was always friendly and respectful. We completed our project in the fall (August–November), and Modern Landscape honored their warranty by returning in the spring to ensure everything was thriving. The transformation exceeded our expectations in every way. We’re so glad we chose Modern Landscape and would recommend them to anyone looking to create a truly stunning outdoor space!

Nick and his crew are awesome! I can't recommend these guys enough. The guys worked very hard and are very professional. Nick met with us multiple times to lay out exactly what we wanted. We have had a lot of work down on our house, so we are familiar with how companies get things done. Nick was by far the best at setting and meeting our expectations. It seems to me that getting the work done is easy, but what is not easy is communication between customers, sales, and the crew. That is where Modern Landscape shines. ALL questions/emails were answered promptly, and communication to his guys was obviously very good, nothing was missed. We asked for quite a bit of extra work to be done that was not on the original bid, and that was never a problem. If any problems came up, Nick dealt with them quickly. There is good reason why these guys are the best. Thanks guys! We could not be happier with our new back yard!!!

What customers say:
We had Art of the Earth transform our backyard and couldn’t be happier with the results. They built a patio with a fire pit area and a rock sitting wall, added seven new trees and boulders, created elevated areas for visual interest, and installed new sod and irrigation. It’s now a beautiful, cohesive space we actually enjoy spending time in. From the start, Kody and the team listened closely to what we wanted and incorporated all of it into the final design. When we needed some adjustments along the way, they worked with us to find solutions that ended up better than what we’d originally envisioned. Their experience and expertise came through at every step, and it gave us real confidence in the process. Gabe and Tyler, who we worked with most closely on-site, were excellent — communicative, quick to respond, and easy to reach throughout the project. The whole thing moved from concept to completion in just a few weeks, which impressed us given the scope and quality of the work.

WOW!!! What an absolutely amazing company to work with. I have wanted to have our back yard redone for years. Our grass and soil was so hard it hurt to walk on. We have an outside shaded oasis and the yard just lacked. Art of the Earth came in and turned it into paradise. We asked for a larger water feature. They went above and beyond our expectations. We feel like we live in a resort now. We asked for an area of artificial turf for our grandsons outdoor play area. They put in an animal friendly turf because we have dogs. It’s stunning. We have more gardens and less grass. I can now walk on the grass in my bare feet and it doesn’t hurt. My 3 dogs are so happy with everything. They find new places to be every day. Our grandson loves his area. Everyone was so easy to work with. The crew was so efficient and kind. It blew our minds when they plucked up all the grass in a day without heavy equipment. Everyone was patient as we found unexpected problems and the solutions came quickly. The leads on the job knew just what would work. We would absolutely recommend Art of the Earth for any landscaping. As a matter of fact, they are coming back in the late summer to remove mulch and put down rocks, which was added after they put the sod down. So appreciative of all of the hard work!!

We have worked with both Brian Bentler, owner and landscape architect at Boise Landscape Design and Dillon Edes, owner of Fine Grade Concrete Landscapes. We cannot say enough good things about these two people. Ethical, honest, and easy to work with. We love the design that Brian created for our property, extending our living space into the outdoors of our u-shaped home, including courtyard, backyard and driveway. And Dillion, as our contractor, to execute Brian's plan along with our vision for the space, was the perfect choice. If you are looking for professionals that can bring the dreams you have for your space to life, look no further. We would highly recommend both Brian and Dillon and would use them again.

How do you choose a landscaper in Boise City?
Start with the part of the job that can fail underground. Ask whether the landscaper will test sprinkler coverage, inspect existing lines, check grading, and explain how planting beds will be prepared for Boise’s compacted and often alkaline soil.
Get a written scope that separates design, demolition, grading, irrigation, planting, hardscape installation, cleanup, and maintenance. For a new lawn, ask how much topsoil or compost will be added and how the finished grade will move water away from the house. For patios and retaining walls, ask about base depth, drainage, and frost movement. Concrete does not care about your optimism.
Boise’s summer heat makes watering details practical, not optional. A useful proposal should identify plant zones, irrigation emitters or spray areas, controller setup, and the first several weeks of establishment care. Mature trees and shrubs may need less frequent watering later, but new work cannot be left to a hopeful glance at the weather app.
| Project need | Questions to ask | Details to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Lawn replacement | How will the soil be prepared? | Soil depth, grading, seed or sod, and irrigation coverage |
| Planting beds | Which plants fit the exposure and water supply? | Mature size, freeze tolerance, spacing, and mulch depth |
| Irrigation | Will the existing system be audited? | Pressure, broken zones, controller settings, and drip layout |
| Patio or walkway | What supports the surface? | Excavation depth, compacted base, slope, joints, and drainage |
| Ongoing maintenance | What does each visit include? | Mowing height, pruning windows, seasonal cleanup, and irrigation checks |
Before signing, verify insurance, licensing where applicable, references for similar Boise projects, payment stages, change-order rules, and the workmanship warranty. Compare at least three written proposals, but do not choose on price alone if one proposal leaves out soil work or irrigation adjustments. That missing line item has a habit of returning later.
Frequently asked questions
How much does landscaping cost in Boise City, Idaho?
The price depends on whether the project involves maintenance, irrigation repair, planting, lawn installation, grading, or hardscape construction. Request a written estimate that separates labor, materials, soil preparation, irrigation changes, demolition, and cleanup so the real scope is visible.
What plants grow well in Boise City yards?
Choose plants suited to Boise’s cold winters, hot dry summers, and often alkaline soil. Drought-tolerant shrubs, native or regionally adapted perennials, and trees matched to the site’s sun and irrigation are usually safer choices than plants that need constant summer watering.
Do Boise landscaping companies repair sprinkler systems?
Some do, but the service varies. Ask whether the company audits zones, checks pressure, replaces damaged heads, repairs underground lines, adjusts drip irrigation, and programs the controller. A sprinkler system that turns on is not necessarily watering the whole yard.
What should I ask before hiring a Boise landscaper?
Ask for a written scope, proof of insurance, relevant licensing, references for similar projects, payment terms, change-order rules, plant and material specifications, irrigation details, drainage plans, and warranty coverage. Also ask who handles maintenance while new plants and lawns are establishing.
